Weird.
I now have Windows 7, and even though the screen seems to stutter a bit more than it did on XP for some reason running in Flash (the standalone 8-9 apps do the same) my accuracy has gone off the charts, on slower songs at least. I have just AAA'd 3 songs so far. I could never even attempt to AAA on my XP build as I'd get random goods on whatever version I used, whatever level. What is that about? Faster songs seem to lag though to unplayable standards but slower songs are a lot easier to FC, and AAA. Anything more than a 6 stutters a lot though, and random goods come back. Have you tried disabling the Aero theme on your computer? That alone can stop the lagging on most Windows 7 computers, completely.

Yeah I just set it to Best Performance just now and it stutters at the start of play, and then stops.
Accuracy is bad above level 6 though, but its still better than it was in XP. Why is that? |

I'd suggest getting two browsers. You can have Flash 9 on one for FFR and Flash 10 for other things.

Thanks
![]() Yeah, I've tried Game Booster, but it didn't seem to make much difference. I've also tried the standalone flash players. Setting it to Best Performance works the best but it's just very weird how my PA is better in Windows 7 than it ever was in XP. |

Or this could be what we in the business refer to as a "skill boost." Maybe it's not your software...maybe it's you.

igotrhythm, could be haha, but I've been AAAing in other music games for ages!
Well, its the same computer, but I changed the hard drives. I run in a RAID 1 config, so simply changed the 2 500GB's I had in there to 2 1TB's. I doubt that would have made much difference. Other than that, it's just been the OS. |

This works well for vista, but not Windows 7. Change your theme to Windows Classic. Like Halogen said, that alone will make the higher levels playable (at least it did for me, to where I can AAA 10s on a consistent basis and couldn't before I switched themes.)

Yeah, haha, I'm one good away from finally getting Gameboy Rave as a AAA...
Any minute now... Random goods now... Its kind of like DDR:X. It chooses when it wants to give you a good score or not :P EDIT: I've changed it to Windows Classic and the stuttering has stopped, BUT, my scores are the same, and random goods are coming back into play. I honestly do not understand this. I was one/two goods away constantly, and now I'm back to 11 goods and more EDIT 2: It would seem changing the visual style only stops the stuttering. The scores have stayed 100% the same. If not worse now somehow EDIT3: Put the visual style to best for my computer, and now scores are good again, but the stutterings back. Argh okay nevermind. I don't get it. I really do not get it. On the plus side, I don't get bored playing the same song over and over Ah nah, impossible for the moment. I'd feel insane if I played it any more. igotrhythm, you may have had a point you know.
I've been playing FFR for a week without touching Stepmania. I've come to play Stepmania on pad and I'm entirely off sync now... EDIT: Haha OMG, 48 plays it took to finally get Half Symphony... First try I managed around 2 goods. Then second, 1 good. Then I had spots where it would lag and I'd get a random good. I'd have times where I'd get random goods anyway. Up to around 22 goods sometimes, but I kept restarting and restarting... It was always either the start where I'd get a good out of no where, or at the end on that run where I'd maybe get one. If I got a good in the middle, I didn't get a good on the run, but if I got no goods up to the run, I'd find myself getting a good. Finally managed it though. That makes it my 10th FFR AAA Last edited by Kage06; 02-8-2011 at 09:45 PM.. |
