On my end of the street (cul-de-sac on each end), there are three houses that have flag poles. Mine is the only one that currently has a flag on it.

Not everybody does that, chill out. That doesn't mean shit, so they're proud of their country, so what? You'd probably be the same way if you were a natural born American.

Basically, walk in other people's shoes who have that flag hanging on their house.


You probably don't even know why most people have it, there's plenty of reasons. The number one reason is because the person with a flag on their house probably have a son or a daughter in the military, our flag shows that we're showing respect for those.

Then again, you're from Canada, so you probably don't know the Pledge of Allegiance.

I think the most patriotic Canadians have ever been came not even a year ago. February 28, 2010 in the gold medal men's hockey game in the 2010 Winter Olympics. Other than that,, we've really shown nothing in terms of patriotism. I mean, other than hockey, Canadians really don't have a lot to brag about. And even then, a Canadian team hasn't won hockey's ultimate prize since 1993, but I digress.

Canadians do have a lot to brag about; they're just overly modest about them.

I think virus and t-force both have valid points so I think we've come to and understanding. It's discussions like these that help clarify fact from fiction.

Just genuinely curious as to where you're talking about exactly? I would like to move there.

Personal, real-life example from last night.

Was at a public place, and a hockey team from Chicago came in.
- They were EXTREMELY loud
- They were talking shit and being rude

This is the view the world has of America. Many Americans, probably even most, are decent individuals. Just the stereotype is they're loud, rude Neanderthals, and there are a noticeable portion of them that actually are.

In Japan, for example, where racism is accepted, Americans are banned from some bars.
Why?
In Japan, a bar is a much more calm, polite environment than in North America. Americans come in, and disturb the entire venue with their swearing, yelling and rough-housing.

I think there are a lot of reasons why a lot of nations generally don't really like the U.S. as a whole. First of all, a lot of Americans in my own, and other people's experiences has been quite a lot of Americans are completely ignorant to the world outside of their country, and often times state. When I've been in the U.S. which has been quite a few times, people from Philadelphia think I take dog-sleds everywhere. I know not everybody is like this but it's really sad this has happened to me even once, let alone a half-a-dozen. Also a lot of American's I've talked to think the U.S. won WWII for the Europeans, which is a load of bull although yes obviously the U.S. played a major role in the war. A lot of American's like to also take credit for the invention of basketball, or the telephone which were invented in Canada. Also most of the world disagree's with what America is doing around the world in the Iraq war and elsewhere. There are a lot of reasons, and IMO a lot of them are valid, but I think it's also ignorant to assume all Americans are like this, although when I go on vacation to foreign places in Europe, the taxi drivers will tell us about 90% of every American in their car is arrogant in one way or another, but that might just be the demographic of Americans who go on cruises sometimes or the taxi's bias.

First of you're simply using the argument of a 2 year old: "Yeah you're right but YOUR country etc etc". Arrogance at it's finest. We may not have a lot of power, but as a country we tried hard. We have a small population, so obviously we're not going to be able to offer more man-power.

The reason a lot of people hate Americans is because of people like you. You're ****ing arrogant and it's now hard to take anything you say seriously. China has far more power and influence over the U.S. but personally I couldn't give half a shit how much power and influence my country has, rather than how much I like living in my country and what my country can offer me.
