Internet Explorer you pos
alright so I use firefox, and I've been enjoying it since I downloaded it forever ago using IE. There is a new problem out of nowhere though, and I would like to ask you all a question.
First, the problem: Whenever I open up a link to a site that has some sort of popup it doesn't open up in FF, it opens up in a completely NEW window in IE. wtf? I've never had this problem before why now? and why is it opening in IE when i haven't used it in years? Second, my question: I'm thinking maybe if I delete IE this would solve the problem completely, BUT since I dl'd FF with IE would that hurt FF at all? I don't wanna go and completely delete the internet from my compy. >__> Please help I hate internet exploarar popping up whenever I go to a new site. :< |

Re: Internet Explorer you pos
It's "possible" that IE is set as your default Internet browser, in which case all new windows would open up with it. Can be fixed by going into your settings on IE. That's honestly just a guess, though.

Re: Internet Explorer you pos
IE is possibly set as your default Internet browser, to make FF the default browser:
1. Click on Tools, go to Options. 2. Click on the Advanced tab. 3. Check the "Always check to see if Firefox is the default browser on startup." 4. Click OK and close all the windows in Firefox. However this matters on what version of FF you're using. Deleting IE wouldn't really affect FF in any way.

Hmm, maybe this will help?
http://social.answers.microsoft.com/...4-aceccd87003f I just did a google search and this might be what you're getting, but it doesn't seem like it matches your problem exactly. |

If what Alex said doesn't work, you're probably best off just completely reinstalling FF.

Re: Internet Explorer you pos
Or just delete IE and download Chrome as a back up browser.

Re: Internet Explorer you pos
dammit guys stop saying "make it your default browser hur" I already did that a long time ago when I first installed it thanks. I'm not as stupid as you might think. That is why I made this thread. Why in the hell is IE popping up with, "CONGRATS YOU WON THIS" when I wasn't using IE in the first place? Maybe it's a problem you've never heard of, anyway thanks to those who actually tried helping.

Re: Internet Explorer you pos
Your problem would have been much easier to answer had you told us THAT detail. I'm afraid you have malware. Now my methods for removing malware are probably very outdated, as I haven't had to go through the process for quite a few years, but in the future, play it safe when it comes to installing programs and use AdBlock Plus on Firefox. Or Chrome, if you decide to use it.

Re: Internet Explorer you pos
Deleiting IE would not effect your FF. Period. The fact that you downloaded it from there has nothing to do with it. Mozilla Firefox had it's own program folder, most likely found in C:/ProgramFiles/MozillaFirefox. Everything you would need is in there. Go ahead and Delete IE, that's that I did.
