After what seems like an eternity of waiting the PSP will finally be hitting store shelves over here in America. Sony says that they are going to have 1 million PSPs on the shelves at midnight tonight, and to expect them to sell very quickly. The price has not yet been announced but speculation says it's going to be around $250 for a "value pack" that will feature the psp with stereo headphones, two 32 meg memory sticks, a battery and charger, a carrying case, and supposedly a UMD with Spiderman 2(the movie). Even though Sony said they were going to have 24 games at launch they are only showing us 17 at the moment. Hopefully the PSP has been fine tuned since it's defective launch state that was reported overseas. Having seen someone with an imported PSP with Dynasty Warriors has definently convinced me to want to buy one! Don't expect me to camp out tonight though
![]() Let's get a conversation going... will you get a PSP, when do you think you will get it, what game(s) will you get, and if you are not getting one please explain why. I don't want a thread full of "no way I want a DS blah" or other comments that don't have any support. I would also just like to see why people don't like them(I have seen a fair deal of flaming in pspVSds threads and noone ever explains themselves).

Actually, I don't want a DS or a PSP.
I'm actually in a car and not behind the wheel about 1% out of an entire year. I also have an iPod. I bought a GBA because Golden Sun looked absolutely incredible. It was. Unfortunately, that was about the only good game for GBA to come out, aside from Mario Kart: Super Circuit, Kirby: Nightmare in Dreamland, Zelda: The Minish Cap, Kindom Hearts Chain of Memories, and ... Golden Sun 2. So DS is just slightly more appealing...and PSP as well. I'd only get a DS for Warioware anyway, and because it's impossible to play DS on a desktop PC (but not on a tablet PC =O). Maybe Kirby as well, since that looks awesome. And if they make a Tales game for DS, that too. But really, that's all. I haven't seen any PSP games that would interest me in the least. ~Squeek |

I might get one, but not for awhile. First of all, I'll never buy a console on opening day- ever. Personal rule. Second, I'll want to wait until the price drops and some decent games come out. I'm actually fairly hyped for the lineup though. Almost nothing about the DS's lineup interested me, but THUG, Coded Arms, Metal Gear Ac!d, NFSU, Infection, and a few other games look decent enough for me to consider purchasing them. Plus, there's no denying it, folks...the PSP is one sexy game machine.
Plus, this just in: Quote:
Can you imagine? Not only 8 player WLAN games, but internet matches over Wi-Fi...that's incredible to think about. |

I wont be getting one. I don't need another game system right now. I don't have DS either, or even an ipod, or any other MP3 device. I don't need them; I do fine without.

I'm proberly not getting one yet mainly because dead pixels are NOT covered in their replacment system. and I really don't want to shell out a load of money to find I have a dead pixed console which they won't repair or change. and games are supposed to cost a lot

Not going to bother with hand helds, cost too much for batteries..too much strain on my eyes and neck and it doesn't appeal to me that now the internet is all that much more convenient.
I'll stick with having a big console a bunch of people over drunk or something screaming and yelling while playing Super Smash or like Mario Kart rofl..

anyways, I won't be buying a psp because of the cost, and fact that i'm always driving myself whenever i travel. and if i were to buy a portable system, it'd be an sp. nice and cheap, and a ton of great games i want to play (what are there, 5 zelda games (collectively) for the gameboy franchise?)

Not getting one.
Too fucking expensive. Besides, I already have a DS, and that's enough for me.

PSP is undoubtedly better than the DS. I might be getting one of the two... but I'm not sure. Probably will end up doing so, seeing as the screen on my SP is now cracked. Damn thing... no clue how it happened.
Money is my only issue in getting one of them though. |

i just got my psp today and im happy with it, no problems yet. the only 2 games i have right now are ridge racers and twisted metal, both of which are good but i like ridge better. the spiderman 2 umd movie looks really great on the psp and im looking foward to seeing what other movies are coming out. the price is a bit much at $250 and the games arent that bad at anywhere between $40-$50. the memory stick prices are really out of hand with up to $160 for a gig, unfortunatley that 1 gig stick is a necessity if you want to put a lot of mp3s or a full movie or 2 on your psp. the 32mb stick provided with the value pack is only good for game saves and a few mp3s.

When the PSP came out in America, I ask my aunt to sell my Nitendo DS with two DS games, and a recharger on eBay so I can get the PSP. SCREW NINTENDO!!!!

I first saw the screen on my PSP and I almost cried. The things is fricking beautiful. The graphics for Lumies and Ridge Racers ae phenominal, I was even able to DL some Hentai pics onto the thing. lol And if you're worrying about defects, I had no dead pixels, no screwed up square button, and I tried to get my UMD disc to pop out by twisting it. No dice. I love this thing and I can't wait till my other firends get it as well.

I just don't like the fact that it costs more than a PS2. Am I not correct? Well when the price dies down oh I'd say about....$50 then I will consider buying.
