New thread for packs is being managed here by new devoted SM players, please go inquire with them about any questions, additional packs, and further information!

http://www.derailedgaming.info/simfiles/ I worked all day on updating my simfile page. I've been getting pretty high traffic on this page somehow - getting over 100 downloads a day on average. Not sure where everyone is getting the link from. Not complaining, though Anyways, You can now view the contents of the compressed files (still a bit buggy since it has to be done with a batch file because my host won't allow me to use the rar library for php). I will hopefully be able to optimize it more. You can also sort. I'm probably missing some major new packs now so let me know which ones are a must. I am thinking of allowing a few people to upload packs at will. We'll see. |

Out of curiosity, where are the majority of these packs first organized/released? I don't know of many forums or communities with enough Stepmania interest to release packs, besides here and ODI. For example, where are the Hard Songs Megapack Volumes released?

hard songs megapacks are organized by izzy on youtube entirely
youtube.com/izzysm There were some packs released from bluexoon and keybeatonline, bluexoon is no longer a site, and keybeatonline has slowed down now that ffr is back up. otakus dream makes all the otakus dream packs, and there are a few packs that are run through pms and never get a thread made. For example rebounds dump collection was a pack that never had a thread made, it was a secret pack that rebound ran and the only way you would know is if you knew him. The majority of packs though I believe come from ffr. something more common nowadays though is minipacks made entirely by one person, i believe this is due to the elitism in the sm community, and people wanting to be better known without getting their files bashed by a group of judges. Well, even if FFR really is the place where the majority of packs are organized, I feel as if I still don't learn about most of these packs' existences till long after release. The same goes for prominent SM players and stepfile artists: I've never seen the majority of them here or any other forum (wooke, Thaor, Zaghurium, Malice, and all these other people that I only know because other people have mentioned their names).
In short, I feel out of the loop on a lot of SM stuff and am wondering where the largest SM communities are.
