I dislike all of your files with the intensity of 100,000 burning suns on a cold winter day on top of a large glacier. Contradicted myself on purpose. G'day~

wow. I go to sleep, wake up and not much has cooled off lol
(since there have been many other what-is-my-judging-philosophy posts) My ratings sorta come from a binary perspective in that I first try to decide whether yes, I think this file could be in game right now (+ and +.); or no, I think this file is not acceptable (+? and ? and -). Then I split those files up into varying levels of potential vs. current quality: + I think this file is good enough to go in the game as-is, even if I feel like there are improvements that could be made (which would generally be minor) +. I think this file is good enough to go in the game, but it either could use minor improvements (small mistakes that are noticeable but overall minor) or is stepped within its style well but is overall unappealing/nothing special/boring, etc. +? This file has good potential but needs work to be acceptable ? This file may have some potential, but needs lots and lots of work to be acceptable. Either completely overhaul the file or just try something else. - In order to make this file acceptable, you would have to completely redo the entire thing and it would basically not even be the same file at this point, or it's something that had so many obvious errors that I didn't have the patience to look through the whole thing. The thing with my style is that there is a larger gap between e.g. + and +. than there is between +. and +?, which is fine under a binary system but not so much in a linear point system. But I also feel that giving a + to some files is way too generous, which goes into a subjective territory, but I feel like it is legitimate to take off points for subjective matters to a certain extent. I can expand upon that point a little if anyone cares.

I'm just trying to find a balance here so while everyone will have their opinions on certain things it wont completely cause huge differences in ratings to where people are like ?_? Also I'm kinda trying to find the groove here for terms of my own judging. Personally I'd look at things a little differently then most people do here but I've been trying to think like an "FFR" judge so to say but I guess there really isn't any sort of actual judging guidelines like I thought there were. I was trying to do my best to "fit in" with the other judges so to speak. |

Alright, sent my revised version of Phalanx. I really hope this is more enjoyable now. In my opinion, it is
![]() By the way, a good system that could work is the very first submission of a file could be judged fairly strictly, by adding opinionated judgments. Then, the authour could use that to improve the file, maybe add resubmission in the name, and then the judges could base that off of straight technicality/fun factor. Just a random thought ![]()

@MrPopadopolis: If the file wasn't accepted into the batch, it'll be marked as a resubmit for the next batch, and you'll get your results later (ie. you have to wait a while). If it was accepted into the batch, and you want to make small changes, it'll be changed right away.
What I was saying earlier though had to do with when one is allowed to send files in the first place. I've come to understand that you cannot send any new files when submissions are closed; we're only taking in new files when submissions are open. However, you can resend a fixed file anytime. |

I still have no idea if my file even met the conditional queue...
How many points would +?, +, +?, and +? be?

Those ratings would not be even conditional...
I don't know the points off the top of my head though. |

Think 16 is conditional and 17+ is accepting.

The thing is, apparently conditional files are still only reserved for offsync files, which means that the cutoff line jx set simply divides what's accepted and what's rejected. This doesn't leave room for the "grey area" in between however. I really think conditional files should have a place within the point system.

Fixing -Glorious Morning- for the next batch. I already have a bunch of new ideas for it.
EDIT: Oh, well already I've fixed the majority of the problems. Most of the ones mentioned were the same, some were ones that I hadn't of even known of which added well to the chart. Thanks for the help on this one, all the judges that looked at this one gave good help. Thanks kommi, Patashu, Luis, and qqwref. Looking to get permission from DJ Splash [hopefully] so I can send in Flying High, because I thought it was one of my better files that I stepped for DF.

Can we send files for the next batch yet, or do we have to wait a bit first?

New files for the next batch? That I'm not sure of yet...jx hasn't officially opened up submissions for new files. Usually you can send in files right after judging is complete, but I'll just wait to hear what jx has to say.
