if I could play FFR void of all nerves and emotion, I swear to god I'd be right up there with leo and halo
whenever I intentionally **** up the very beginning of a song with extremely difficult sections later in the file, I'll always nail them because I've already dubbed the run as shit and won't get nervous anticipating the harder sections but nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo, that'll never happen |

OWA that's exactly what I do to calm nerves. Sometimes I close my eyes when I hit the first note. That way I won't know for sure if I hit a Good or not. It helps me maintain that "I messed up anyway" mentality. But you usually have to screencut the score off because it's too tempting to look for the 00/50 vs. /*5 splitoff.

But it's so hard to trick your mind - if you pretended to mess up, your mind will still know that you didn't really mess up, and thus your mentailty would remain the same. Even if you close your eyes for the first arrow or so, you'd have to have some degree of certainty (otherwise, why waste time if you did mess up at the beginning).

this is why sometimes I'll actually shout out "FUCK" right before the most difficult section of the file, faking a really dumb screw-up
as hilarious as it sounds, it makes the convincing process more...convincing |

When I mess up, I always boo out, which means I hit other arrows with ****ty PA in the process. That way I can't deduce whether or not I *did* mess up the beginning. Whether or not I ever *actually* mess up the beginning from time to time is irrelevant. As long as the possibility is there -- and as long as I can't be fully certain, the nerves are calm. To be fair though I've only had to do this on a few files. I didn't even have to do it on DP -- which I wasn't even nervous over. I knew it was coming and that it was just a matter of time. That sort of mindset alone helps a lot. But crap like LGC and HA I was furiously nervous over and had to psych myself out so many times. |

I would love to do exactly what you're doing rubix, but I look down at the raw score every chance I get (and have been jew'd out of both Reality and FN AAAs because of this) and can't find a way to screen it, since the entire gameplay screen condenses whenever I alter the dimensions of my browser
...unless I bring up the task manager to cover my raw, I'm like 99% certain that stays up and isn't pushed to the background on xp, hmm... |

Unless you want to continue getting Hava Nagila'd on your scores, screencut away the lower score portion. Use a standalone player if you must.

@OWA: you can use a physical object like a post-it note on your computer screen.
