Default I can't believe it happened again.

Consult this thread for the first occurance: http://www.flashflashrevolution.com/...wtopic&t=15357

After all that, I had Avast! Antivirus for a long time. It worked well, but really only caught about 2 viruses the entire time it was in use.

And so Avast! decides to do exactly what Norton did - Make my computer so secure that I can't use the Internet!

Whenever the on-access protection was on in the last 2 days, I couldn't load a page past a very small amount. I'd get the top tables and some images and then it'd just STOP. Of course, like last time, I could ping and all that jazz. I even played my MMORPG.

So folks with Avast!, look out for this problem. Now, since I've disabled Avast! On-access protection and it's still coming up, any ideas of how to disable it (again, for reals) so I don't have to use TCPView to remove the network connections it starts without my knowing?

Hydro - I HAVE FIREFOX.

THE PROBLEM IS AVAST.

Anyway, I don't want to delete the program itself as I can actually run the virus-scan if I leave it on the computer.

I just want the on-access protection to go away and stay away.

I removed all the registry values for it already. It's still starting automatically.

YEAH I'LL GET RIGHT ON THAT HERE I GOOOOO

Taking it to a computer store is the last thing I would ever do. I know more than those people most of the time anyway.

Plus, this isn't a problem so much as it is an annoyance. Looks like I'll just delete Avast! and get AVG.

So that problem is taken care of; now try this one.

As I found out while manually disabling Avast's access to my network, Windows Media Player is now acting like spyware and is doing data farming without tell its users. They submit data to napster, wal-mart, and a few other companies out there without telling you. I want to disable this automatically.

As it is now, I manually cut off the access everytime I boot my computer. It's a little annoying. Anybody (anti) know of a way to just block it from happening?

falconsfan is incredibly retarded.

When I first got my OLD OLD computer (when I was young and didn't know shit) it took them _A WEEK AND A HALF_ to install an AGP Voodoo 3 video card.

Yeah okay go to Best Buy if you never wanna see your computer again.

And you know those CAT5 cables they sell? It's like 10 bucks for a 3 foot CAT5 and it's just like standard Belkin cable.

Jeez.

Man that was off topic.

Ok, I need the stupid comments to end.

I have AVG. I said I was getting it in my last post. I got it. Spy-Bot and Ad-Aware aren't antivirus. I don't know the other two but it really doesn't even look like I have to know.

ANTI JUST GET IN HERE. Tell me how to block windows media player from accessing the 'net. Now.

I wish people on this site would quit acting like Anti is the only one that knows anything about computers.

Windows Media Player>Tools>Options. Click on the Player tab. Deselect the box that says Connect to the Internet (overrides other commands). There you go.

Oh, like I didn't notice that before.

I ask anti because I know it's not some option in WMP I need to deselect. It's something I need to configure on my router to block access or attain some unknown program that will do it for me.

Something like that.

I wish the problem were that easy though. Alas, it was unchecked already.

PS - Here's what I'm referring to -
