Default What should I major in?

I love English, but I don't think I could major in it (too stressful to be critiqued); I'm good at math, but it's boring as hell; I'm fascinated by foreign languages (specifically, romance languages), but I don't know if that'd land me a career anytime in the future
Basically I'm conflicted and picky as hell. If you could swing my opinion any way or if you know from experience any majors that would open a bunch of opportunities I'd be willing to suck it up for a few more years

Edit:
Taking my 6th year of French
Also taking 4th year of Spanish
Definitely willing to learn new languages
General proficiency in the structure of English (grammar, spelling etc., but I'm not so conceited as to say I'm a good writer yet)
Taking Calculus in a few weeks, but will probably hate it
I'm fascinated by Physics and am ok with Chemistry, but couldn't stand Biology
Interested in Psychology, but hesitant about accepting it for job availability reasons

Basically what course of action would most easily lead to employment

I find that people that like English but don't want to be English majors make good Psychology majors. I am graduating with a Psych BA in less than two weeks with a minor in English. For some reason, English classes were always my most challenging classes even though I enjoy writing. If you are interested in the human condition, I would suggest taking an intro to psych class and some elective psych class (since intro to psych class sometimes turns people because it's such a dry course). There is often a lot of writing involved in Psychology, but it isn't at scrutinized as in an English class setting.

Psychology majors are also required to take logic classes in preparation for statistics, which is a big perk for the Psych majors that also enjoy math and number crunching. Statistics class is probably what makes the majority of psych majors change their major because a lot of lazy people go into Psychology thinking it's easy. In the long run, some people in the psychology community commit their entire careers to number crunching study results.

The only downfall to psychology, IMO, is that after I graduate, I can't use my BA in order to get a good job in the field. I can go get a decent office job or land a job as a manager at a random store, but I can't really do anything in psychology, yet. I have to go to graduate school, and eventually will be getting my PhD or PsyD in order to get a really good job and to be respected in the field.

Good luck in whatever you decide!

Edit: Also, English majors tend to be really pretentious pricks.

You should major in being a couch bum, only because you have no idea what to do. Once you major in that you can eventually go back and decide what you wish to do with your life.

You're too young to choose a major. Identify your desired general direction first.

you don't need to choose yet. You can always go in as undecided and take basic core classes. No rush. And really think about it. Don't just jump to wild conclusions because of what we say.

The guy is asking for some personal experience and some ideas. We aren't telling him what to major in, just giving him our two cents. I declared my major walking into college. It's never too early if you know what you want to do.

You don't exactly make it sound like you have it all figured out, Rubin. Psychology is a great subject to study because it's enlightening, but in terms of aimless career prospecting you'd only be wasting your time.

Vantinburg's sample choices were completely unrelated. This indicates he doesn't have the slightest clue about what he wants to research in university, hence my post.

To me, anything that's not enlightening seems like a waste of time, simply because there's too much out there that can be learned, and too little time, money and energy. English courses are not as enlightening as Psychology or Philosophy, when taken seriously, or any science. People who are modestly literate and don't know what they want to do take English. Writers don't need to major in English. Don't take it unless you want to be an educator.

Languages are an odd thing to spend years studying in an academic institution when there is so much else available, in my opinion. Even if I were fascinated by them, under consideration of my full lifespan they wouldn't hold my attention for very long.

If you really want good advice: You'll want to start thinking about your future in terms of how you'll spend your life, rather than your means of financing it. Education's a means of broadening your horizons; your vision; your scope. Any reasonably intelligent and/or motivated person can improvise ways to earn money.

Some people are satisfied with further refining a sphere of talents they are already good at as a form of entertainment. That's where "The Arts" come in; and to me, at least, they seem a little philosophically void. I think you should look into the sciences. Most people are intimidated by the prospect because they didn't like "the sciences" in high school, but the word just describes an empirical method for establishing knowledge. If you want to learn, science are the means. And learning is a great and very sustainable form of entertainment.

Mulie I don't really remember you from before FFR pooped but I have to say you're pretty ****ing baller.

Vantil, International relations might be an interesting way to tie in foreign languages with a career that will actually make you money. How close are you to college? Most don't require that you declare a major for a while.

Naturally I'll take any suggestions with a grain of salt. I'm just looking for an opinion from someone more experienced than I am on what might land a job given my (admittedly somewhat threadbare) interests
I'll edit my OP

I'm set on a college but haven't been accepted yet
I'm just trying to find a good direction to look into for the time being

How don't I have it all figured out? I am applying to John Jay in Manhattan to their forensic psychology program. Maybe you shouldn't assume things just because I didn't give every single detail about my life.

If you don't know what you really want to do, go to college for open studies. Take some courses that you're interested in and see what you like from those. After that transfer your credits toward a degree in that. Might take you a bit longer to graduate but at least you'll have a degree in something you're really interested in.

In other words, go to college for the things that I can't learn from Rosetta Stone, huh
I'll definitely keep this in consideration

In other words, he wrote a lot of words and told you very little. But I agree that you need to feel your way around different subjects in order to get an idea of what you are most interested in.
