From what I've read, more than 100 artillery shells have been fired and there was a military skirmish. Still looking for updates.

honestly tho i m pretty sure that n. koreas standing army is like, the biggest standing army i think if ww3 happened wed be ****ed

like.. its prty a pretty simple hegemony here. korea is basically the world power. im prety sure that they ahve the political influence, manpower, and technology to start the most immersive and destrictuve world war in our relatively short (~140 years) history on this planet. if you dont see this then i really feel sorry for you and youre apparently inability to understand the global geopolitical landscape.

nope, dprk might have a huge ass standing military, america has a larger one. put in the extra 700k soldiers from the south, thats more than enough to outnumber dprk. altho i have doubts that we can annihilate dprk as easily as some people might think (1.1 mil soldiers isnt something to laugh at), the u.s. should be more than capable to engage in conventional warfare and topple the government.

n korea isnt the problem, its china we should be worried about.

700k soldiers from the south? What south are you talking about? If you're talking about USFK, there's a bit under 30k soldiers.

The size of the active US military is around 1.5 million soldiers. The DPRK is 690k. But they have about 8 million in reserves. The point of the reserves is to keep a military force they can train and deploy last minute, without having to fund them completely.
We have firepower on them, but that's probably about it.

in a country like dprk i wouldnt be surprised if everyone who isnt dying of old age or not old enough to carry the weight of a gun would be considered a reserve force.

i aint saying they dont have enough to stir some **** and make lives miserable for a **** ton of people, but a starving army like theirs have got notn on a modern army like ours

and 700k is the standing army total of the rok

The US has no economic interest in N. Korea. The US had total economic interest in oil. Plus when the US began middle eastern occupation (in this latest instance,) the President was a Republican. No self-respecting Democrat would think of being silent towards violence.

what makes georgia and n. korea so different from iraq or afghanistan is that if we took any actions, we would have some pissed off super powers to deal with. we werent going to compromise on our already uneasy relationship with russia by backing georgian troops with our men. the consequences would have been a diplomatic nightmare. with n korea, we (cia prolly iunno) would have toppled the government long ago except then we would have had to deal with china.
