Re: So I got a virus...
more like if you want a computer that runs stable with graphic design programs, doesn't get viruses from your customer's pen drives, allows you to manage efficiently a graphic studio, then i'd use a mac. in fact, i use a mac.

Re: So I got a virus...
Sounds like a windows to. Adobe did something right when they wrote their software for multiple platforms.

rm -rf /* OS X now needs to be re-installed to work properly. I can embed a shell script into a picture and have it run when you open it, and if you're already on the root account, it'll happen. OS X really isn't secure rather than not many people caring to mess it up. The OS X Terminal is the same as BSD UNIX's pretty much, and you can do just as much on it, just running on a different kernel and some other restrictions, but the OS is still pretty flexible compared to Windows. Also IMO about if you're just going on Facebook and stuff...obligatory convert people to using Ubuntu post as it is REALLY good for stuff like this by being as secure as hell while not having to configure anything. Don't even have to install drivers. |

Windows- HOLY **** VIRUSES EVERYWHERE...UNLESS YOU'RE A DUMBASS, Customizable interface with a few VERY SIMPLE hacks, Gaming ('nuff said), more software to download, can run mac programs with a few quick hacks, etc. Linux- Can run p. much everything if you have any common sense what so ever, viruses are almost naught, FULLY customizable with NO hacks, great for hacking ****, free, etc.

Re: So I got a virus...
I don't get it. Is it irony because Osx is actually a crippled OS?

OS X really does have it's place, but unless you're in professional graphic design of movie editing, it's 200% of the price of a normal computer to look like a metrosexual douchebag. If you're just "in" to graphic design as a hobby, Adobe Suit comes for both WIndows and Mac and works the same on both. |

Re: So I got a virus...
The only problem is that a huge majority of software and games are only written for windows. If everything was developed for linux then it would be worthwhile to me. I guess I'll just have both for now. =/
If all the operating systems had standardized exe types and software wasn't part of the equation in determining the usefulness of an OS then I believe linux would probably be the best choice. Mainly because it's free and open source. |

Re: So I got a virus...
It sounds like a species of monkey.
And Linux sounds like a tampon brand. Edit: No offence :V

Another great thing about Linux is you can actually use a totally different display manager. Kubuntu IS Ubuntu they just use a different default display manager being KDE instead of GNOME. this and this is the same OS. The second one is KDE (Kubuntu) and the other one is GNOME (Ubuntu), and I can install both of them on the same one, and switch them by logging out and pressing a button. There's tons of other display managers, the popular ones being Xfce, Fluxbox, and Openbox, but their more niche orientated. I don't suggest fully switching if you have applications you NEED to run on OS X. For example I still have Windows 7 on my computer because of games. Also the instillation does all that duel booting stuff for you so don't worry about that. |
