Re: Xoon 5: The Transition Submissions Open
(Cedolad) Lightning Strikes Again
Ugh, my percussion pet peeve strikes again. You focused too much on the guitar and missed a whole bunch of percussion hits which makes the file seem more empty than it already is. Resembles Radio Heads in FFR except this was very repetitive and overall I didn't see anything in this that would warrant an accept. Might I mention that those mini-freezes weren't even necessary. I don't know what you were trying to portray with them. Good song choice, chart doesn't match what this pack is looking for. Rejected. (Cedolad) Death Match Another S.S.H. song. Pretty much the same review as your other file but I would say this is the better of your two submissions. You had lots of opportunities to use freezes but you chose not to which in the end looks like a FFR file. Also way too short of a song and file. Rejected (Huzure) Fuchinkan Candy If you're gonna layer the bass hits with jumps, please make sure you do it consistently throughout the entirefile. Generic 16th streaming file and nothing more. Rejected (Huzure) Lawn Wake XI Nice gimmicks, I'll admit that much. Chart is kinda lacking. Missed a whole bunch of jump placements and overall I didn't see anything notable about this chart. Rejected (Huzure) Chaos Energy V2 Pretty decent pad file. Edit chart was very old school-esque and a decent scoring file but nothing pack worthy. Rejected (Huzure) Speed of Light This would be a decent submission for Vibrajack Finale Pack as for here, it was pretty generic and there was nothing notable about this. Rejected (Operator) Decipher Tsuka already stepped this for Solo which is still pretty boring/generic. My god this was one of the most generic file submissions I've ever played. Rejected (Huzure) Death Moon II At least you didn't step the original Death Moon, which I'm a bit pleased about. Decently structured. Holdstreaming more or less reminds me of the O2Jam chart. Overall, pretty generic and nothing notable about this chart either. Rejected (Bynary Fission) Goddess Bound Oni chart: Measures 53-57, awkward to hit. Measures 122-126, jesus christ that is really dumb to hit what were you thinking. Measures 147-155, you got some Baq syndrome going on where you have awkward-to-hit patterns in rainbow dump solo. Very end, bad cut. You just randomly stop stepping when the song hasn't faded out yet. Drags on but this file is pretty well done. If you fix up the patterns, I may accept. For the time being, Rejected. (Bynary Fission) Tratsch Polka Gets pretty repetitive but it was nice to see you vary up your layering a bit but doesn't really deter from the fact that the song repeats over and over again. Would make a good Vibrajack Finale Pack file IMO but for here, no. Rejected (Cyrenics) Pure Ruby V2 Mini-freezes are abused and poorly used and weren't even necessary in the first place. Pretty generic and at this point in the pack, I can't say yes to this even if you do fix it up again. Rejected (Cyrenics) Reincarnation Could've layered piano chords in the beginning measures. Measure 26 is a pretty bad pattern. [12] jump immediately after a 32nd left roll followed by [1][2][3] 16th triplets after the jump. I don't know about you but I screw this pattern up every single time. File seemed very empty mostly because it's mostly 8th note stream and you had the opportunity to use long holds but chose not to as if you're afraid to use them. Nice to see a legit file for this song but I can't accept this the way it is now. Rejected (Trance Core) Festa do Sol One of your better files. I didn't like the mine usage at all so I'm pretty sure Tsuka is gonna bitch the **** out of you for this file. Some parts were good while others were boring. Get rid of the mines and I'd probably accept. As for now, Maybe. (Alexdestructions vs. Bynary Fissions) 888 V2 At least this time you managed to make me sit through the file. Measure 59, that burst is complete aids. Measures 63, 66, 71, 82-83, more aids. OK scoring file but this is not pack worthy material. Rejected (Huzure) Final Attack Didn't understand your hand usages. Drags on and not a very interesting song to step to begin with but it was a decent attempt. Rejected.

Re: Xoon 5: The Transition Submissions Open
It looks more like submitted files aren't that good rather than GD's too harsh
also looks like my chopin file was rejected after all, sadly Didn't he have like 5 acceptances and 1 reject on DCP Last edited by jimerax; 12-7-2009 at 10:43 PM.. |

Re: Xoon 5: The Transition Submissions Open
Death Match- Why was this necessary. tora's is perfectly fine. also bad percussion layering, this feels super empty. rejected
Death Moon II- Buizel's is fine so I won't be playing this sorry. N/A Decipher- Pretty bad. Patterns are absolutely random and never build up to anything. I like this song though (Gundam :P.) Not a good song choice. Have you seen Ducky's sticky on stepping files in this forum? That's a good place to start. rejected Festa do Sol- Some parts of this can be really really awesome with some work, but then you have the dumpy mine usage, and misrhythms, and inconsistencies everywhere. Great song but file is missing a lot, sorry. rejected Final Attack- Not a good file. Lots of bad stepping decisions (you stepped intense parts so easily and then stepped a single note melody as a huge jumpdump. also inaccurate/misfelt jacks.) I also think you should take a look at Ducky's sticky as it has chockloads of good advice. Good luck. rejected Bynary Fission files: Gundam covers those better than I ever could. either way both rejected (Goddess Bound would be accepted with fixes for me though) Lightning Doesn't Step The Percussion And Puts Loads Of Huge Jacks That Are Absolutely Torturous To Play: yeah rejected. I liked the minijacks to this though. would be a decent file if you had vary it up a little but it keeps doing the same stuff. try to find some good examples of jacking files and work your way from there. Reincarnation- At this point in the batch I was lolling my head from side to side in hopes that that would make SM more interesting for me. File was decent however and had some pretty nice parts, one of the better ones in the batch and one of your better files. 32nd rolls are kind of lame though. rejected Sorry I'm kind of bored and really tired. I'll play the rest later |

Re: Xoon 5: The Transition Submissions Open
I had a decent amount of files pulled/rejected from this pack
My stepmania self-confidence has since lowered a bit. Also why the heck was jx's Chopin file rejected? I guess this pack just has pretty high standards (claimed to be RFpack level but I suspect otherwise) |

Also, I addressed the matter regarding Heroic Polonaise to the judges since the file never really had a final decision. Waiting for a response from everyone to see if it'll make the accept or reject list so if you wait a bit longer you'll have your answer.

Re: Xoon 5: The Transition Submissions Open
the higher the standards the better imo. clearly this pack isn't having any problems getting files so i don't see why it should be accepting any "eh" files that obviously no one's going to play.

I don't mind if the pack standard is just high or something. can't find things to fix/improve in it anymore so it might be a matter of potential of the song (classicals are still cool though). |
