Re: Rebound Vibrajacking Pack Finale! (Submissions)
Reserved for my notes.
By the way, I'll only be putting the song titles to save time. If you search your username you won't find your file in this post. Castle of the Guy 1. Edit Chart should be removed. First off, the static buzz sound in the background at the beginning does not make a 64th roll. After that, you put minetraps everywhere. The mines at the 48th gallops were just completely unnecessary. 2. Heavy Chart has pretty much no jacks at all. It should be removed. 3. Oni chart The long holds remove fun from the file; you shouldn't have jacks on the same hand that's doing the hold. I have to agree with bluearrow on cutting the song at measure 65. Charging Swarm of Mousketeers This is my own file so I have no weight on this. Japan No weight but this song is funny haha Confidence in the Domination 1. As a default noteskin user it doesn't matter to me if you use color notes, but this stepfile went by pretty fast. It was ok. Epileptic Crisis 1. There were some loud and noticable buzzrolls in the middle that could've been stepped but were missing. Not that you need to step every single one, but some stood out and you didn't include them making the file seem inconsistent. 2. Try finding another song to step since this already has several stepfiles. Head right round 1. If you're going to put mines right before or after an arrow at least make it on sync lmao 2. The severe syncing problems in this song prevent me from giving a review, but even so 123 bpm 12th jacks are way too slow to be considered jacks. How to rape the willing 1. In measures 5-7 you could add a quarter note after the first 4 guitar notes at the beginning of the measures. There are kicks here that could be included. 2. Measures 21-23 have the same problem. having no arrow to the bass kick makes the chart feel pretty empty and understepped. 3. Measure 30 is bass kicks. For pitch relevancy, they should be on the left 2 arrows since they aren't "high pitched". 4. Measures 35-51 are understepped in certain places. For example, in measure 47 there are 16th gallops leading into the next quarter note. 5. Starting at measure 54 you're missing quarter notes at the second beat in the measure again. Same problem as the beginning. Not trying to be so critical here, but having no arrow to a bass kick makes the file feel empty. 6. Overall, this entire stepfile needs to be redone. Sorry. Jumper 1. I'm still having the thought on whether this song should be cut. If it will have a cut, 2:28 is probably a good place. 2. Overall the file seemed alright. It was pretty long and repetitive but that can't be helped on a song like this. Kommisar's OP 1. The sync on this song felt a bit weird 2. The streams were rather fun to hit but this song is practically the same thing for 3 and a half minutes, it takes away the fun at least for me. Love is a Danger Zone 1. The synthesizers in measures 50-56 are very quiet. The jumps should probably go with the quarter beats since they're louder. 2. The 32nd rolls in measure 75 and measure 79 don't seem to go to anything. While this was probably intended for some certain effect, I didn't like it. 3. Some parts of the song felt understepped but were understandable. This file definitely has potential but you seemed to overlayer some of the quieter parts. Minans 1. This song doesn't have that many jacks. Some parts that were trills could have made for some pretty good jacks like measures 63-64 for example. Monotune F v3 The first two notes after this are for the Beginner chart 1. The burst at measure 15 is actually 64ths. The 24ths right after are incorrect as well; it's a 64th gap going into a 32nd gallop. 2. It's nice that you tried to fill in those bass kicks in measures 68-75 as well but they aren't 48ths lol they're 32nds. However, I find the Heavy chart acceptable so I'll accept this file. Beginner needs fixing though for those bass kicks haha NOTE TO SELF: The correct file will be sent later. AlexD said he sent the wrong version. Night of Nights 1. Heavy chart has a couple 16th minijacks. That is nowhere near enough for a "jacking" song. 2. Oni chart was ridiculously overlayered. This reminds me of HST's vertex gamma. Overall, the song choice wasn't particularly that great for this pack (way too repetitive for practically 3 minutes). Paexaea's Revenge resubmit 1. lol 100 bpm 16th jacks but I'll accept it since it was fun Red Sheets, White Lies 1. Measures 15-18 seemed empty. There are 16th synths in the background that could be stepped. 2. Putting that aside, this stepfile was enjoyable. Nicely done. SA2B Green Forest 1. Measure 48 needs to be redone. It isn't a straightforward 24th stream. 2. The first half doesn't need those holds. The second half seemed much better since it had none. 3. I don't hear anything on those 32nds in measures 8-11. Starfox (Speed Remix) 1. This song only had a few jacks and seemed very generic. Tetris Remix (how many remixes are there lol) 1. Had no complaints about this file. Just that there are a crapload of remixes of tetris haha My stepfile submissions -Charging Swarm of Mousketeers -Japan -grind4 (still being reviewed) Key: Rejected Rejected but has some potential File has fewer errors than the last two ratings but has certain aspects that may keep it from being accepted. Accepted Oh yeah and when I do Blue it means maybe Last edited by DossarLX ODI; 12-4-2009 at 06:32 PM.. |

Re: Rebound Vibrajacking Pack Finale! (Submissions)
Someone teach me how to step please
My files are just not good enough and I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong, I need to learn how to layer just 2 sounds instead of the 3-4 that I usually do (I could go back to stepping piano pieces, but even they end up dumped)

Re: Rebound Vibrajacking Pack Finale! (Submissions)
(Bluearrowll) Tetris Remix
File is off sync. It's late (offset should be around 1.620). Decent wristjack/vibrating file but it was boring and generic due to song choice. I tried my hardest not to quit out, rofl. Rejected (Cedolad) Starfox Speed Remix IIRC you submitted this to Xoon 4. Either way, layering and sync is all over the place. It's nice to have a variation in layering but you have to keep the file flow consistent and make sure it all transitions well. Nothing notable about the file overall. Rejected (Dossar) Charging Swarm of Mousketeers V12376128376813 I haven't played your first few versions of the file but Blue seems to have taken care of most of the technical errors. My main complaint about this file is your pattern usage for the bursts but since this is a scoring file, I can't really complain since it keeps the file challenging. Also hand usages that you layer for those light snares/cymbal crashes and the other couple times you used them are too intense to warrant hand usage (minifreeze jump would fit much better for light snares/cymbal crashes while jumps for others). Light Accept. (Dossar) Japan Joke file so I can't take this seriously. Quit out. Rejected (Rebound) Garnet Moon Rejected from Xoon 5 so pretty much the exact same as my review there minus the packworthy part since that's for Xoon 5. Quote:
(Rin-Dude) Kommisar's OP Joke file so I can't take this seriously. Was enjoyable to some extent. 32nd streams are pretty easy to hit TBH. N/A. (PhaeL) Fuurin Right off the bat, mini-freezes were not necessary and were abused. Torajirou's file was good so this song did not need a restep. Rejected (Bluearrowll) Head Right Round rofl gimmicks and background changes. File is generic aside from those. Maybe as a joke file otherwise Rejected. (SKG_Scintill) SA2B Green Forest V2 Call it a pet peeve of mine but it really bugs me when people don't step the percussion when it's dominant during 8th/16th note stream. There should be a jump on every 8th note but you decided to follow the guitar rift or whatever with the jumps which isn't very dominant in the song and becomes hard to follow at times. After Measure 27 those hands (the ones that don't layer cymbal crashes) really bugged me, especially during the long jacks and later on near the end. It's complex layering, I understand that much however you're overlayering and it makes it hard to follow what exactly you're trying to do. Measure after 32 is inconsistent with the measure beforehand since you didn't throw random hands in. There are more minor technical errors I can mention but it's nothing big. Overall, file drags on and is repetitive. If this song was cut by maybe half, then this would be acceptable but as it is now, I can't say so. Rejected

Re: Rebound Vibrajacking Pack Finale! (Submissions)
All the file submissions are being sent to Xoon 5 anyways so there hasn't really been much file activity here since it's exclusively jacking files only. Pretty much, I can stop judging for like 2 weeks and come back to less than 10 file submissions, rofl.
I'm being lenient here but even then nothing really stands out in these batches :S
