Re: NSane Presents: The Timing System!
It's being released now. Expect it most likely before 12:00 AM EST.
Edit: or whenever LD uploads it, it's in his hands now.

Re: NSane Presents: The Timing System!
also for stricter timings syncing is even more important in my opinion.
adjusting the syncing on all of those files might be a pretty huge work |

Re: NSane Presents: The Timing System!
the problem with 1-frame timing is random notes will require nigh-godlike precision to hit or knowing visually when to hit a bit late early. imagine a note in the music that sounds almost exactly on the boundary between two frames when a .swf is made of it; even if your MA is very very good you have roughly a 50% chance to hit a good just playing to the music
2-frame timing also has this problem but only half the time; if the extra frame is a bit early, what if the note is just barely within the boundary toward the late frame? again, playing to the music, roughly a 50% chance of hitting a good such tight timing forces an element of visual timing to work with the quantization that imho shouldn't be there you'd have to retroactively integrate a continuous judgment system into ffr. I dunno what the code's like but that might be a huge revamp

Re: NSane Presents: The Timing System!
yay, just what we need. stricter timing
this won't completely conflict with the combo system at all think about it: score based on combo + strict judging probably one of the worst scoring engines known to mankind

Re: NSane Presents: The Timing System!
You aren't making a bit of sense, as this doesn't affect combo one bit.

He's talking about the score system, since its based on Combo x Arrow Judgment

Re: NSane Presents: The Timing System!
Well either way you don't "have" to use this option. Just provides more of a challenge to the top tier players and anyone who wants to experiment.

Re: NSane Presents: The Timing System!
If all timing windows including average/good get narrower, it will be a bit harder to mash FC due to the widened miss/boo range (in terms of "life"). Considering it still doesn't have combo breaker there won't be big difference in combo difficulty though.
this is an optional feature so at least this feature doesn't make things worse at all. |

Re: NSane Presents: The Timing System!
Well at least it doesn't make scores easier to achieve.
And it will probably never be added anyways since it apparently is a lot of work to upload a file via ftp. /sarcasm |

Re: NSane Presents: The Timing System!
About combo scoring: how about we shorten the perf/good windows, but make the hit window the same size by filling in the rest with averages? Nobody wants averages, so that'd provide a huge penalty against mashing on high judges, but the combo would be the same whatever judgment you were using, so it would be a lot less frustrating to try to FC stuff.
I guess good windows should be ~twice the size of the perfect window, so maybe we could do something like normal: AGPPPGG strict: AAGPPGA flawless: AAGPGAA

Re: NSane Presents: The Timing System!
This is good. These new timing systems should essentially negate button mashing, right?
