Yes Roundabout I can't decide if I should spend a little extra money and get a cheap full MIDI keyboard or go for the keytar controller they're bundling it with. Definitely want to get a legit MIDI drum kit eventually, but I still have a ION kit that works well for now. Not to mention the guitar situation. The cheaper one will be available at launch. It has ~100 buttons on the neck (6 buttons per fret for 17 frets) and six strings to strum. It can be used in traditional play or in "pro" mode. The high-end guitar coming from Fender themselves will be a fully-stringed real guitar, but won't be available at launch and will not be playable with non-pro charts. I think I'll just get the cheaper guitar though. I already own a cheap real guitar and I can't handle the fingerings without producing dead strings. I expect the buttons on the frets rather than strings will be easier for me to avoid this.

Re: Rock Band. More Awesome.
Although the song list may not seem as strong as Guitar Hero 6 (lol story mode), all this extra stuff is definitely making this game worthwhi=ile.
Problem is that not all songs will have KB charts, even if it does have piano/KB in it. Only a select few from DLC and the previous two RB games will have it apparently What a killer. also, future DLC will have pro-guitar charts, but you'll have to pay an extra $1 for it though. Dunno if ALL future DLC will have it though. Need to confirm that. That said, ALL previous songs will have pro drums as the drum charts were already separated into different drum sections, so it was real easy for them to convert them all. Some people are already releasing videos of RB3 gameplay. Lucky bastards getting their hands on it first Finally, I want to ask when the Fender Squier is coming out. I dunno I want it instead of the cheaper one because I want the real experience, and I'm too lazy to buy a real guitar and learn it, so this game will be my lame excuse to learn >.>

So yeah, piano/keyboard won't be featured in every song, but the keyboard controller can still be used on any song. I just hope they don't take too long to go back and fix up old songs. Stuff like Evanescence's "Bring Me to Life" for example. Perfect case of a song where harmony vocals are badly needed, and it has some piano in it as well. I don't mind about the pro guitar for DLC though. Makes perfect sense to me, and it allows people who don't want pro mode to save money rather than forcing everyone to pay for it if they don't want it. Have they given any word on how they're going to handle upgrades? A discount for people who already own the downloaded track? Or are they gonna force us to "doubledip" to get the corrected harmony tracks and more accurate drum/guitar tracks?

Other than that, I think I heard them say that all previous DLC will be available on RB3, no need to pay for it all again. Just extra for the PRO guitar.

Re: Rock Band. More Awesome.
Actually it's out Oct. 26, I have it on pre-order and I'm super excited to finally be getting my ions for my upcoming birthday. I will be whoring the **** out of guitar pro and keys of both sorts, vocals are easy, guitar could still use work for me, and drums should become easier with fully-functioning and better responsive pads
Edit: Also, I personally like the RB list quite a lot, the songs may have a less-metal base, but it's very versatile and has a lot of room for some fun as hell group play.

Why the hell would you drop 400 bucks? I'm dropping like 120 for the game and keyboard. I'll see about the pricing of the guitar unit also.

Re: Rock Band. More Awesome.
Rock Band 3 today.
Amazon ****ed **** up and removed their listing of the bundle I ordered (game+keyboard). But at the same time, it says it's "about to ship", so I can't cancel the order, and as long as I can't cancel the order, I'm not about to go out to Best Buy and buy one when Amazon should be shipping one. It's supposed to arrive today per the original order, but it hasn't shipped yet. Mother****. But other people will be able to enjoy it now. It's nice to know that me being unable to enjoy it won't stop other people from enjoying it. Blech.

This, I don't mind older songs, but everything on that list is from the medieval times.

This is a very strong soundtrack dudes. If you don't like it, you must have really myopic taste in rock music.
