FF7 arguments :: Lets find the middleground! ::

For it's time, FF7 was a great game, a graphic masterpeice, a storyline marvel, and an incredible game. This time is over, and yet after several years of browsing this forum (on several accounts), I still realise that there are about 2 FF7 threads a fricken PAGE! I know it was good, but seriously, the fights over it must stop. This game's time has come and gone, but you people keep fighting over it. So I comprised the pros/cons list of the game and see how they stack up.

Pros:

Good Plot/Storyline
Good Graphics
Good characters
Good boss fights (ruby was easy though, should have made it harder)
The concept was good
For 1997 it was a good game. The year is 2005.

Cons:

-It's old. HELLA OLD.
-It's lost its graphic 'top-of-the-line' thing goin on. It's like 8 years later.
-Some glitches.
-Impossible to beat weapons without guide (KOTR? Gold chocobo? Good luck without a guide, dude)
-Easy to get rich, and buy everything (sell master all, you're instantly 1.4 MILLION richer)
-W-item glitch. (falls under previous category, but the great gahuna here gives you 99 of every battle item, given you are willing to do the time)
-repetative music
-WAY too easy. (The final boss only did 2000 damage to my 9999 hp 999 mp Lvl 99 chars with level 4 limits and final weapons *gasp for breath* (no cheating, it took me hours.)

Here you have it, nerds! The pros and the cons. The cons are larger (surprise). Try FFT, its really good. Its like a turn based strategy with FF1 chars, its hilarious ^_^

Play FF7 once, and let it die in peace. It's okay the first time around, but play it for a second time and it's worthless, like many other rpgs.

I loved the minigames--the snowboarding one was awesome.

I liked the game, too.

But, eh, it's old now.

I still love it. I always loved Super Mario RPG better though.

You don't have the right to bash that particular part of the game cause no offense but you have to suck if you couldn't of figured out how to beat it.

BY THE WAY! getting a Gold Chocobo even for a retard was EASY. Go to the sage in the moutains where the snowboaring town is and talk to him and he tells you every step and what nut and where to get everything to get the next level of chocobo. You lose.

W-Item isn't a glitch, it was purposely put there DUH. It kind of got exposed that's all.

Right on. Oh and has anyone heard the awful rumor that Square-Enix has signed a deal with Microsoft to produce Sony's biggest fracnchise, Final Fantasy, for the XBox 2!? God, please tell me this isn't so. I mean, FF, is exclusive for us, it shouldn't be shared with Microsoft ewwww.

Not quite. Square-Enix didnt sign a deal with Microsoft, the creator of Final Fantasy Hironobu Sakaguchi did. Final Fantasy will still be on the Playstation platform. Microsoft is getting two entire different RPGs.

FFVII was a good game. I really liked playing it. The plot was okay...typical RPG plot though, save the world, kill the bad guy.

I really didn't like FFVII all that much. I know you guys are going to all hate me for it, though. Still, it wasn't that mind-blowing to me. Nothing was really great about the story, in my opinion. The graphics were good at the time, but now they aren't, but since that has no bearing, I'll leave it out of the argument. The character design was very good, but the whole battle system, storyline, and whatever else was sub-par from my viewpoint. I find FFX to be a much better game, by a long shot, in pretty much every aspect seen in Square RPGs.

What the hell makes FFVII so great? Will somebody please tell me?

It wasn't full since a majority of it was 2D, such as some backdrops. I'd beg to differ on that one.

I'd just have to say that people ENJOYED playing the game.

Why does this thread even exist? The game is so old, who cares if it was good or not? FF7 was just a regular old RPG. Nothing special. I played it, liked it, but really, nothing special. There are better FF games, and better RPGs in general. Again, why does this topic exist!?

exclusive final fantasy games are made for the top video gaming system. id expect to see some on the ps3 because its gonna own the xbox 2 like crazy

And Robby (err, Ardor? wtf), the music was good! <3 FF music __________________ So I've gone completely slack-ass and haven't done any work on creating games. =( In less-depressing news, I got a job for an online business (which sells non-electronic games, of all things!) which has taught me a lot about marketing online and all that jazz. So now I'm on Twitter @NoahWright. And I write the blog for their website. Plus I do cool programming in-house that you'll never see. =O
