The Canadian Air Force routinely beats the crap out of the US Air Force in any kind of equal strength exercise.

Having spent billions upon billions of dollars to have more -equipment- than every other military means surprisingly little when you consider how poorly trained and outclassed the individual people are.

The mission of the Navy is to maintain, train and equip combat-ready Naval forces capable of winning wars, deterring aggression and maintaining freedom of the seas.

this is written in bold letters on the US navy website. did i expect something different? no. i, of course, do not waltz around US navy dudes for obvious reasons (and the obvious reasons are italier people usually don't enlist in US navy), but pretty much every military establishment on earth follows these guidelines. the contraddiction between the so proclaimed freedom of the seas and the capacity of winning wars and deterring aggerssions is striding. particular note on the fact that the first thing said is "mantain, train and equip cambat-ready naval forces capable of winning wars".

now, some countries like to pull the "army for defense only" card, but the attitude is exactly the same as the one cited here; always ready for a new war, and pretty damn proud of it. proud of being able to take away other people's lives when both sides have been brainwashed, as they can only see each other as absolute enemies. i find the whole concept utterly despicable also because the training is more psychological than you might think, and teaches you to kill or be killed. violence becomes an automatism, a matter of efficiency.

the fact that we're talking about nuclear submarines makes me even more disgusted; nuclear energy is one of the most incredible trainwrecks of human history. i know how enthusiastic is your government and the nuclear lobby about it, but the downsides are abnormally high. why would you ever want to put your intelligence and effort to contribute to such a disaster, i wouldn't know. why you would ever want to get your hands covered in blood, i don't understand either. if you wanna give me some patriotic bs please, don't. that kind of indoctrination isn't even borderline acceptable by any logic.

ps: i love how you guys are measuring each other's former country power, like you're measuring each other's dong to see who has the bigger one.
