![]() In interests of pursuing a Navy career as an Electrical Technician in the Nuclear Propulsion program, I'm retiring from FlashFlashRevolution. I'm also going on a limited hiatus from Kongregate.
To outline for those that don't know: An Electronics Technician (ET) is the go-to person for any and all fine electronics work needed on nuclear submarines or aircraft carriers. ETs operate reactors, pull control rods, work control panels, so on and so forth. Think of it as an IT job. With nuclear reactors. For the next eight weeks, I'm undergoing independent PT with the objective of getting in shape for basic. I'll probably be in basic starting in about January. It's in Great Lakes, Illinois. I'll be there until about March. After basic, I'll be going back to Charleston, South Carolina (all that work, just to go one state away) for Nuclear Field "A" School. In NFAS, I'll spend six months learning the basic lingo and procedures of my trade. I'll be in NFAS until September 2010. After graduation from "A" School, I'll stay in Charleston (bummer) and go to Nuclear Power School. That's another six months, and it's basically college on crack. I'll be studying Mathematics, Thermodynamics, Reactor Technology, Radiological Fundementals, Nuclear Physics, Metallurgy, Reactor Operations, and Rate Instruction. I'll graduate NPS somewhere around March of 2011. After NPS, I'll go to another NPS: Nuclear Prototype School, either in Ballston Spa, New York, or Charleston (here's to hoping I only spend a year in SC and then go to NY). That's where I get my qualifications and testing done, to make sure I can actually handle a nuclear reactor. I'll graduate that somewhere around September of 2011. After that, I'll probably be in the fleet, seeing as that's what I've trained for. I'll keep you guys posted when I get my exact basic dates. Cheers, and good luck to all of you in future pursuits. Edit: If you're a Kongregate member who hangs out in IiN, I'll see you there until I leave for basic. Last edited by Seefu Sefirosu; 09-17-2009 at 02:43 AM.. |

![]() Later bro and good luck in basic. I've been in the Navy for 9 months so I graduated from bootcamp not all that long ago. If you have any questions about basic feel free to ask. I'm a Hospital Corpsman currently stationed at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda.

![]() Wow, sounds like a lot of tough training coming up for you. Though it'll be a first to know an FFR player who works with Nuclear Reactors.
So, I wish you the best. Takecore of yourself. |
