Movie Help
Alright, I need everyone's help. I want to start renting some movies because I have hardly seen any of the classics or any of the new ones for that matter. So, if you could all reccommend some good movies to rent, that would be great. Umm, nothing R rated..And I hate horror movies, so don't suggest any of them. I guess my favorite kinds of movies are comedy and drama. So, suggest away :P

RE: Movie Help
Even thought its rated R, you should get someone to rent thses movies for you.
Versus Ghost World 2DLK Akira 2DLK is a japanese mpvie about 2 women who live in the same apartment, but are both trying to land the same acting role and the same boyfriend. They both end up trying ot kill each other in gunplay and swordfighting. Funny as hell.

RE: Movie Help
Ugh...a lot of the movies I was going to list are rated R...oh well. Most of the following movies require you to pay attention, so if you are one whom needs explosions to keep your attention, these movies arent for you.
Lost in Translaion (Drama/Comedy, R) Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (Drama/Comedy, R) Brazil (UK/Original version) (Sci-Fi) (UK rating: 15) 12 Monkeys (Sci-Fi, R) Spirited Away (Anime/Family, PG) Fight Club (Drama/Action, R) That's about it for now. |

RE: Movie Help
Since you hate horror movies I will be sure to list all of the good ones.
The Shining (Kubrick's version, not Stephen King's gayed up version) The Changeling The Fly (1986 version only please, the 50s version is cheesy trash) The Thing (both versions are good) The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (original version only please) The Exorcist (the Director's Cut or whatever version is better because it has stuff and yeah) The Grudge and Ju-on: The Grudge 2 (Japanese versions, obviously) Audition Eraserhead (this isn't really horror, but then again it's not really anything) Dracula (1992 Coppola version) I'll think of some more later. PS all of those are rated R. I think Audition is actually NC-17 or the equivalent. |

The uncut version was left unrated...but most likely would have gotten NC-17. But it is a well done horror film. It is more psychologically scary than any other movie I have seen. It is the best horror film I have ever seen also. |

RE: Re: RE: Movie Help
First of all, ratings actually STILL mean something to you people? damn, i thought video stores had given up on that (cept porn) a long time ago.... guess not.
If you like comedy/drama type stuff, you should enjoy these: Eurotrip (Comedy) (rated R) Mallrats (Comedy) (rated R) Garden State (kind of a comedy/drama/romance mix) (rated R? i dunno, might not be) those are all I can think of for now. And Moogy, how could you have forgotten the best horror series of all time? A Nightmare on Elm St. (Rated R) you can't go wrong with that. I still can't believe people still care about ratings..... lol.

I consider A Nightmare on Elm Street a comedy, because the entire series is sooooooooooooooo cheesy. But it's great for laughs.

RE: Re: RE: Movie Help
Yes, the series is quite funny, but I'd have to say for its time, it had great effects, an amazing concept, and lets face it, in the 80s, it scared the shit outta people.
I was afraid of Freddy Krueger for a long ass time, and when i finally did watch the series, i fell in love with it, well, you know what i mean. Today i own two of the collector's sets of the whole series, three seperate dvd's of the first movie, and almost the whole series on VHS. You really can't go wrong with it.

RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Movie Help
Guys, he said no "R" rated....don't be douch-bags.
However, I would like to state that all the films jewpin mentioned are amazing. When it comes to films that are not rated "R," I don't know what to tell you, really... There is Master and Commander or Pirates or....hm....AH! There is one that I MUST recommend....Harold and Maude, it is an existential movie, but it is amazing. Made in the 60s or 70s....really and truly amazing. I don't believe it is "R." But the thing is, that you need to open up to some new things, like "R" rated movies, and horror movie...there are a lot of films you are missing out on.
