i have challenge for your computer. rasterize a 50 mb vector in adobe illustrator, recording the time needed for the operation.
i'm total **** about computers and i cannot understand a word in this entire thread but working with heavy vectors on my 3.9 ghz imac is pretty difficult and loding times are rather high (not that i cannot multitask in the meanwhile, but still). |

Prototype.
Also, run 3 instances of 1024x768 Windowed Stepmania while running Jukeboxes on all.

thats a super computer.
The only game that I can think of that would run like garbage even on a PC like that one is either Neverwinter Nights 2, Sims 3, or Hellgate London. But if there were hiccups it would probably be more due to the game's ridiculously bad coding.

The only thing that runs like garbage so far is the 3DMark Collision Test, but apparently it runs like garbage for EVERYONE -- as in, it's supposed to run like garbage in order to stress test, etc.
PS: I'm down in Texas now as well. How's that wireless connection? I'll tell Rachel you said hi XD I kid, I kid. I just found the whole thing funny :P Last edited by MrRubix; 09-6-2009 at 03:36 PM.. |

Holy crap, I'm loving the OCing. 12 GB of DDR3 RAM is OVERKILL, but IIRC most OS's today only support 4GB, but I'd like to be proven wrong. At this point, you could use freakin' liquid nitrogen for an enhanced cooling system, and seeing how your system DOMINATES (Apologize for the reference) basically any game thrown at it, you might as well just play games that are well-constructed and are ultimately fun to play. FFR/SM, anything by Valve, Fallout 3, all of the Call of Duties, Bioshock, GRID, basically anything that fits your preference will run consummately. Might as well just look at the ambx gaming sound system or look for a kicka** case.

If your operating system is 32-bit, it'll only detect like 3-4 GB RAM or something. 64-bit can detect, as you can see, 12 GB and more.
Ah! Bioshock! Forgot about that one. |

Won't you take my requests? Don't have to do the Stepmania one, but I really want you to do GTA San Andreas.

Bioshock will run like cake and look beautiful. Just wait for Arkham Asylum to come out too, that game is pretty sweet looking and demands a bit of care from the hardware.
p.s 64-bit operating systems in theory should ready up to 128 gbs of RAM. Friend installed half-life 2 on his Linux based PC and ran the game purely off of his 16 gbs of available RAM and it looked ridiculous, lol. That was then, though, and this is now.

If you're in Texas, then you only have to take it as far as Quakecon next year if you're an FPS fan. These people have so many creative ways to build their computers, like in cardboard boxes, or in tool boxes, etc. You are also pretty much guaranteed to win something like a new motherboard or processor (which as we can see you DO NOT NEED).
Otherwise, get a new mouse and/or keyboard (as long as it doesn't hinder your godly ffr forte) and name your system something like Behemoth, Goliath, Juggernaut, or one of the Greek gods or something. My brother works at an Apple store in a nearby mall so he knows his way around Macs, and he was told by officials that the iMac's newest OS, Snow Leopard, could support about 16-17 exabytes of RAM. And if you don't know what an Exabyte is, look it up and you'll find that it is a VERY LARGE NUMBER. Last edited by bacalaoboy; 09-6-2009 at 03:59 PM.. |
