Default playing the more difficult songs

I've been practicing for a couple hours every week nonstop playing FFR since summer semester started. yes, I have a lot of downtime. I have only had my account for a while because I wanted to get better at the game before I tried playing with one.

anyway, my problem lies in the fact that I am incapable of playing the higher tiers of songs no matter how much I practice. I just can't compute about 500 notes in 10 seconds. I don't understand any of the advanced techniques, spread, anything like that. I just play. if there's no pattern to the music and it's just ****loads of notes which you gallop across the keys in some ridiculous fashion to play, I can't play it unless I have some method to slow the notes down ala guitar hero.

is there any way to do this? is there a secondary client that can load stepfiles and slow them down for you? or a client without the scoring/account system with a slowdown method?

Have you heard of Stepmania? You can try downloading this program and then find some songs on simfile databases such as the one on FFR. You can then go into edit mode where you can basically practice any section of a song, slow it down, etc. Unfortunately, you won't find FFR stepcharts on simfile databases, but this is the closest thing you're looking for.

all the songs have patterns to the music, the higher levels come with practice.

Use Spread, use a higher speed mod and practice on stepmania.

Don't run straight into the hard files.
Work with your PA; improve it until it's good enough that can can FC songs with decent scores under one difficulty, then go to the next.

It's actually easier if you speed everything up, gives you more time in between each arrow.
