Alienware is okay. It costs ALOT.
www.ibuypower.com If you don't mind getting your order in about a month, this is inexpensive and powerful stuff. I think. I haven't been there a long time, but I think it still kicks ass.

If you arent planning on using your lap-top for any specific reason that requires you to have a high-end laptop, then just get a Dell or a HP. They get the job done for a relatively low price. What use is getting some high-end computer if you arent going to use it to its full potential?

SLI.. it reminds me of VOODOO2 ROFL.
Dual CPU is also really comfortable. If your Monitor, Keyboard, Mouse, Case suck, renew them first. |

Just a possibility.
Maybe look into Tablet PCs? They are perfect for college students. Especially math majors (I don't know your major). ~Squeek |

Although I am intrigued by anything that is considered "perfect" for college students... Care to elaborate? Or at least send me in the direction of a website? EDIT: You people are so freaking nice. This makes me proud to be a trophy girlfriend. |

I say it's perfect for college students because of the ability to take digital notes. In math, where notes have to be more than just words, drawing a picture of a graph using a stylus and being able to make it accurate are some nice features. Of course, it's better than just that. Not only is it like a PDA for writing, the screen folds back up to become a laptop if you want to use it like that. They are really neat devices. Ok, I went to all the websites you guys put on here and did the "Build-A-Comp" workshop. I pimped out accordingly, and here's the results:
AlienWare-$2833 VooDooPC (the minute I saw "luxury system" I knew it wasn't going to be cheap-$7090.42 FragBook(Falcon-Ne)-$4490 AlienWare wins! |

You're a moron. Let's throw hundreds of different parts together and see what comes out the cheapest? On that note, why not buy a six year old dell? It's probably cheaper than everything!
I told you to gtfo and I meant it. Stop pretending you know what you're talking about. |

Tablet PCs seem interesting, but I heard that they arent selling very well even though microsoft keeps pushing them. The only time I have ever seen one use was in the movie Collateral.

2. Notice that I said "Pimped it out accordingly". Notice that by that I meant that I put parts that I wanted in my laptop. Not hundreds of parts. Parts that I wanted. Parts for gaming, taking Biology notes, and gaming in Biology. 3. I have a 6 year old Dell. That's why I want an AlienWare. You see, having the ability to think fast may make you look smart, but when you think fast you don't think through. 4. Stretchy_Panda's price range was around $3000. I was evaluating the prices of the laptops according to what I would have put on there. She could do them herself, I was just using the relatives. I never really liked you too much, as your username was stolen off of a tshirt from wickedjester.com, but now I view you as who ever Green Day was singing about when they made American Idiot. You really take the cake! |

Mindfields, your name was stolen from a song by Prodigy, right? You stole your name too.
And seriously, Anti's right, you weren't even buying the same components for each PC/Laptop/Whatever. You can't seriously compare the prices when you do that, can you? Therefore, that makes both points number 2 and 4 invalid. And YOU say ANTI has no power? Please. You joined 2 months ago. ...Okay, anyway. My brother has a $2500 laptop from alienware, and he likes it alot. My friend has an ibuypower laptop, (I think it was also around that price), and he loves it (it can run HL2 realllly nicely, with full water effects and the lot). I'd still go with ibuypower, though.

Oh, geez. Every time some script kiddie tech-wannabe tries to start a fight with me, I lol to myself and pull out the flamethrower. Well, it's been a couple weeks since I've had the pleasure of flaming a retard, I'll have fun with this. Especially since I don't think I ever got the chance of getting back at you after you whored up the forums awhile ago.
