This is bull
So today I found out that the plug on my external (that part where you plug the cable into) fell loose and now it's shaking around on the inside. I looked closer and apparently it's broken, meaning I can't get it to work.
Everything was on that external hard drive. Stepmania, pictures, videos, my entire iPod collection, basically...and now I'm facing the fact that I could lose all of that. Damn. Any help? |

Tough break, dude. Opening it is probably the only way you'll be able to salvage your data.
Maybe find out of Best Buy sells them and try taking it there and being like 'i lost my receipt can you fix it? qq' Did you already try googling how to fix a problem like this?

Re: This is bull
The data should all be there. From what it sounds like, the only problem is the plug, not the disk platters themselves. My suggestion would be to get the hard drive moved to a different casing (most computer stores can do this, I think).
If the data on the drive is actually compromised, most of those same stores can also do data recovery. Even hard drives that have been in fires and been run over with a truck can usually have most if not all the data recovered from them even though it seems like a total loss. Good luck.

Re: This is bull
Yeah just recase the hard disk if it's a problem with the cable. I recently had it done as well with my hard disk cause the cable snapped in two and the two wires inside weren't making a connection anymore. They don't sell the cables seperately so the best idea was to buy a new case with a new set of cables etc.
They recased it for me, but you can easily do it yourself as well. It's just a matter of unscrewing the old case, unplugging the hard disk, putting it in the new case and close it up.
