Default HRP-4C: Japanese Fashion Robot

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=brD5D0ytD04

Quote:
The fashion-bot is 158 centimetres tall, the average height of Japanese women aged 19 to 29, but weighs in at a waif-like 43 kilograms, including batteries.

She has a manga-inspired human face but a silver metallic body.

"If we had made the robot too similar to a real human, it would have been uncanny," one of the inventors, humanoid research leader Shuji Kajita said.

"We have deliberately leaned toward an anime style."

This is extremely creepy but amazing at the same time. I'm in awe at how much our technology has advanced and that kind of bothers me a little yet I'm excited to see something like this happen. So what do you all think?

The ****ing Japanese do it again.

This is pretty amazing how far robotics has come along so far...and still could go a far way. Makes me think if thoughts about robots in the future, like sci-fi movie stuff, could become reality.

Yeah, the only thing that bothers me is that her hands are ENORMOUS and they hang at her side unnaturally, but everything else is pretty much amazing. Her face is so cute too.

The face is cute, but the anime style seems a tiny bit off; The hands look fine to me. All in all, it's a good looking, and functional robot lol.

It is a bit creepy. Reminds me of Chobits without the ears.

This reminds me of the guy who's building the "perfect" woman robot, named Aiko, as an assistant/companion.

Quote:
Le says his relationship with Aiko hasn’t strayed into the bedroom, but a few “tweaks” could turn her into a sexual partner.

Le said: “Her software could be redesigned to simulate her having an orgasm.”
Whatever floats your boat, I guess. Who knows, he might even make some important advances in the field of Artificial Intelligence. Here's the article
http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage...cle2023392.ece

Also, why is the guy on the right in the OP's image taking a picture at that angle

An interesting take on trying to beat the uncanny valley.

Yeah, just bypass it. Don't go for realism at all. Just make it anime-y!

The hands are definitely too long and are held in a strange way (flat is not relaxed).

I still like that crazy four-legged robot better... Can't find the link...

e: oh here it is http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...70802105160028

She's adorable but it's kinda creepy D: I saw the Aiko videos a few months back and that's pretty awesome. She called the guy a perv when he touched her boobies :s

There is nothing amazing about it the only reason I think you posted this is because it was Japanese.

Go troll someone else.

I posted it because I've seen these kinds of fembots from Japan before but this is the first one I've seen that is able to actually move on two feet, perfectly balanced.

I'm not trolling*, just being honest. I've seen these types of robots on Star Wars already.
