Default Time for me to step forth (an immense update with a vid!)

Hi.

[futile rant]So I've been reading these forums, mostly Brag Board, almost daily since last spring and been that sort of a passive bystander (disregarding my first post) until now. Something more? Well, I really doubt this interests anyone, but as opposed to most of you, I'm not from North America and I go to local upper secondary high school in Helsinki. I've been playing keyboard Stepmania and DDR on and off since the summer in 2003 -- last summer I learnt that cordless keyboards aren't really _that_ good. :I Nowadays I play SM almost daily, perhaps an hour per day. Thanks for not reading. [/futile rant]

Sometime ago I realised that my scores wouldn't really be the worst here if i posted them and today I got this one that pushed me over the edge of actually posting it.

And no, I don't really approve of cmods that much. Comments on the MA? This was maybe my fourth time playing this sim and my previous record was 97.6 M, so the MA and PA in this are on a totally different level. I understand though that there are several people in BB whose MA's n^2 times better. :/ And on a sidenote, the patterns in A mess me up big time and I can only get around 97.3 M in it, heh.

Ah, almost forgot: I play with four fingers and on a spread setup using keys M + the three keys to the right.

Rght now I'm a bit too busy to post more pics, but expect more to come tomorrow or something. And if someone called any of my scores BSed, I'd just feel flattered, because I myself don't regard these scores that good. In any case I'd be able to make a video of any of my scores. :)

Cool. New players are always welcome in the form you're coming in.. most come in and stupidly post.. but nah, you used proper punctuation and even introduced yourself. Cool beans, sir.
Welcome aboard (aboard.. get it? bahaha..)

Default An enormous load (38!) of miscellaneous scores

Warning! A HUGE load of screenshots ahead!

Hello again.

Thanks eVILPeeR for making me feel welcome. :) And tsutter, too bad if it was totally pointless in your opinion, I just felt like introducing myself wouldn't be a bad idea... I could've written much more but I managed to restrain myself.

I'll keep it to the point now and let the screenshots do their work. These are in order from the oldest to the newest one, because I'm lazy.

Cynic's. Pretty good MA for me and I rarely AAA stuff.

My best score in ASB, AA some day perhaps.

A decent score, I have trouble with some jumps.

Really easy except the ending. :/

Cynic's. A MA achievement for me.

My previous record before this was around 86 M and it was old as hell. :)

I really like this score and the CB's.

I really can't MA these streams as well most of you. :(

Still far away from the AA.

I just had to post this, my only AAAA in a >5-feet song. :I

Playing on a spread setup those trills are really annoying -> bad MA.

Not really good, but still my record.

Second try, haven't played more. I guess this is rather good.

I savour every AAA I get. Surprisingly good MA for me.

A decent blackflag.

Tell me if this is good compared to my best scores. On some BS sims I do quite well.

Posted because of the amount of misses and the grade. My jacking skills (ololo) are getting better. :)

I have trouble with the patterns in this, great sim and song though.

Good MA for me on the second try. AAA some day maybe.

The background in this one really is something. Darn greats.

Some day all these damned SDG's will be SDP's

Absolutely the worst simfile by Skor. Notice the absence of a cmod, hence that low score.

I screw up really thoroughly with the slow-downs. With a cmod I got 97.x.

Now we're getting to the newer scores. A random great right in the beginning, might have been even the first note. :(

I have FC'd this but with a lot worse MA.

My best MA. Have AAA'd with 17 perfects.

Haven't played this but a few times and the patterns really piss me off. (Posting this because.. eh.. don't know)

I wonder if other 'spread setupers' are doing well in this, because I've had major trouble but I got this today. Previous record was 194.x, which really sucked.

Posted because the I got _all_ CB's in the slow-down jackhammer of up arrow right before the end. My best score is a sucky 97.5 and would've gotten 98.x without that brainfart.

I have never comboed the weird part in the beginning with the mad bpm trick. :/ Still don't want to use a cmod.

Quite a good MA, but too much greats.

Hand slipped funnily resulting to the good. Not that good score IMO.

I really like this one by Reach, the best AIR so far. :) The MA is also likable in my scale.

Tried LIID today with a bit bigger rate and did well.

This score surprised me, the ending went better than usual.

This one did the same. I got really weird CB's throughout the song and yet a record.

Really many misses but better MA made this my record. :/ Have gotten 1 CB sometime. Love the song.

A bit higher score due to a better MA and PA but the miss count is horrible.

There's this one thing that may prevent me from getting really good in one specific song and it's that I really don't want to whore anything. Almost all these scores are first try on the day I played, because that many times I usually play a song per a session.

I got the latest K8107, RTPR and Gaussian on vid if anyone's interested in seeing them. I don't show the judge / ini because I can only record 3 mins straight and for instance RTPR's that long... and these aren't really top scores anyways.

And I'm expecting you to make as much effort in commenting these scores as I made posting them. ;)

Some of the scores are really bad, but some are really good. Good job though, you may want to practice a few easy songs for accuracy.

o.O

What Whack said, some are good, some are meh. None of them are really "bad" though. Your K8107 (Duk Amok) is good though o_O....

EDIT:

Some of those scores look pretty similar to my scores... Except for k8... you owned me there, but I'll A it too, give me some time >.<

Yeah, some of the scores are really old and I just haven't played those songs in a while and now I just mainly picked my records on the popular sims. I really can't comprehend MAing of Nima-level, that's just so inhuman and I'm sure I'll never even get near that skill level (also because I don't have time to play so much nowadays).

And hey btw, this is totally unrelated to anything, but does anyone of you use a Logitech UltraX keyboard, that really flat one? I'm thinking of buying one sometime soon, because my present keyb is stiff and the keys are high so I suppose jacking and playing faster songs in general would be much easier with a keyboard like that.

EDIT: WTF? Anuj compared my scores to the ones by him? So far I've been delighted with the thought of probably being in the top-1000 of keyboard bangers worldwide... well, that gives me some motivation. :/

Most all of those are quite good. your accuracy needs some work but it's not terrible. Keep practicing and we have another good SM player of the forums =)

Yea, don't stop playing. Ignore what they say when they tell you to play easy songs. Don't. Play stuff that's a little bit tough for your level until you get really good at them - especially songs with patterns you're terrible at (Shining Collection you said you weren't very good at because of the patterns). Trust me on this one, you want speed more then you want accuracy. Accuracy comes along.. just take a look at justaguy and Nima. They both had CRAP accuracy when they first played (For proof check out Nima's album or w/e..). Now it's really good.. and they've got the speed to play hard crap and get good accuracy on them. For myself I can only do one, which is accurately play a song but I won't be very speedy. I have a lot of work to do.. so work on your speed before you think about accuracy. It will come with time. And videos are a yes.. lol, I love watching SM videos.

Default A vivid vid

Hehe, I also like my avatar in all its simplicity, but more important than form is the meaning it conveys. Richard D. James is surely in some warped way the smartest human being alive. :)

Anyhow, thanks for all the feedback -- I'll concentrate on speed from now on. On my first try I B'd 250 bpm, that song is hard as hell to me. I don't see any reason however to try to raise my reading speed (currently ~610 bpm is the most optimal), because for instance Origamikid plays with such slow speeds.

But the most important thing:
RTPR video (~10.6 MB, bandwidth should be enough for everyone and I won't take it offline anytime soon)
All the CB's came in a bit unusual parts of the steps. 3 mins being the limit I hadn't time to show the results properly (see the screenshot), but hope you like it. The mic in the camera has to be crappy or something, the music doesn't sound too good, you can hear the tapping of keys quite clearly though. ;)

EDIT: And what comes to the video, I really didn't bother myself with trying to be funny. It's the easiest thing to just shut up and not to reveal your funny accent in English, that's why written English is so much more comfortable. :P

You're a lot better than me on some songs and slightly better on others and I beat you on a couple. You should play me in SMLan sometime.
