I agree that he almost certainly has no chance of being tried as an adult for this, but to pretend its not serious because the animal was not seriously injured is naiive.

It's serious because of his motivation and the fact that despite his age, he absolutely knew what he was doing was wrong. If he did not, then his parents utterly failed completely, in which case, a couple more years of development wouldn't matter in the slightest anyway.

He abused a defenseless animal, and you're trying to lessen the magnitude of that? And you presume to know the cat's injuries? You also presume that the cat isn't severely mentally scarred? It seemed pretty clear to me that the cat had been tortured out of its mind and was basically resigning itself to death. To tolerate such a thing is unbelievable.

And he didn't just punch the cat. He repeatedly brutally and ruthlessly beat the cat out of its senses while shrieking with rage. The kid is sadistic, abused his power over the cat to abuse it, and did it with glee. This kid deserves no less than the same treatment, and you might consider getting educated about what getting beaten like that does to a being, if you haven't experienced it firsthand.

For what he has done, he deserves humiliation for the rest of his living days. Considering his full intent, I doubt anything will rehabilitate him, so I figure he should have the reminder of what he's done drilled into his brain.

If you want to know what's wrong with society, start with yourself. Shame on you for trying to lessen such a crime. It's this same garbage attitude of zero accountability that's helping ruin ****ing everything.

Wow, you paid a lot of attention to what actually happened. If you read what he wrote on the YT comments, it's not the fact he said the n word, it was the context he used it in.

No, it wasn't the worst thing in the world, but I'm pretty sure that the noises the cat were making were signs of how bad it was for him.

Why do people think "oh worse things have happened," and then they think it doesn't matter anymore? Worse things have happened, yes, but that's all the more reason to be concerned. You should not compare this case to "worse" happenings in order to lessen the severity of the crime. A crime is a crime and he should be tried. The age limit doesn't have anything to do with fairness. It is not unfair for a 14 year old to be tried as an adult. What's unfair, is writing off this instance as if it doesn't matter, and saying there are bigger fish to fry. There will always be bigger fish to fry. With that logic, it's okay to do bad things as long as someone else has done worse things.

I think that's wrong. Being tried as an adult only makes it easier for him to be fairly tried. A child with a sadistic mind is no child at all in my eyes, regardless of psychology. Mentality is different from chemicals and anatomy. It has been said, but children like this are the ones that end up abusing real people later in life. The kid was an idiot. He posted it on youtube, for ****'s sake.
