I wont sign the petition because Im not the type of person to believe just one person will make a difference but...This kid needs to get some freaking help. Who the hell videotapes the abuse of a cat, posts it on Youtube, and thinks they are cool? Someone who either a.) Needs to see a doctor or b.) get his ass whooped and see how he likes it.

If you SAW the videos, then you'd understand that he knew fully well of what he was doing: abusing a defenseless animal and videotaping it because he got some sadistic kick out of it.

Rofl, don't compare this to Saw. And the point is a 14 year old is not an adult. They shouldn't be tried as an adult.

I wasn't comparing it to Saw.

Also, like I said before, you can be under the age of 18 and still be aware that you can kill something if you really wanted to or even that you're capable of hurting something. If he's aware of his actions with something this severe, then he deserves to be tried like one, regardless of age.

Wrong. Look it up. It is a physical fact that kid's brains do not fully develop until the early 20s.

I'm not denying that fact. The thing is, it's a part of growing up that happens before you reach your teens; whether it'd be through a pet or something else, at some point in your adolescent life, you realize that you, at some point or another, have the ability to control something's life.

You cannot punish for what is not developed. They literally do not know better. That's the law. That's why minors are not tried as adults nor will they ever. Nuff said.

The extremeness of this situation comes from his motivation of the act rather than the act itself. He didn't abuse the animal out of sadistic pleasure, he didn't do it because the animal did something bad, he didn't do it because he was stressed out.

He did it to be cool on the Internet.

He was entirely aware of what he was doing, and if the prosecution decides to press the matter, he definitely deserves to be tried as an adult. Anyway, animal abuse is seriously not a very big deal. It's not like he'll be put away for life regardless of how he's tried.

This is hardly an extreme case. Yeah, he posted it on the internet. Now guess what happens. A clinical psychiatrist will say that he was an adolescent with the brain of an adolescent. That means that the kid acted out of impulse rather than actually sitting and thinking out what he was doing. He's 14. There is no way that will be tried as an adult. There has not been a trial of that extremity since the 1940s where a young man in California murdered another young girl and got sentenced to death. (might have been '39) Either way, this kid won't even be considered for jail time, at least, not in a real jail.
