I has a new toy.
I had originally gone to the junkyard to get a motor mount, head gasket, thermostat housing, and possibly a set of cams off of a wrecked Dodge Stealth, for my 3000GT...but I got sidetracked and ended up spending 3 hours pulling this nice fat turbocharger out of a duely superduty truck xD I plan on making my already twin-turbo setup, into a tri-turbo setup, by having one of the turbos feed directly into the intake manifold, like it currently does, but then have the second smaller turbo feed directly into the larger turbo, so as to have a direct twin sequential turbo setup, which greatly reduces the spin-up time of large turbos. The benefits to this would be that I still have my low end torque from the first turbo and its direct feed, and by the time the first turbo begins losing its power as the rpms climb, The 2nd(small) turbo will have spun up the larger turbo, giving me maximum torque in every powerband. Looks great on paper, but I guess the only way to find out is to try it out. Currently(when it's running good) I push about 15psi out of a 3.5liter twin turbo, and just under 500AWHP. Once I get the engine ready for the new turbo, I imagine it will push no less than 30psi with a turbo the size of your head. Anyone else think this could work? |

Coming from a former fake female, I don't know whether I should laugh at your fake statistics or just point out that they're fake.

I don't know much about cars even though my family has a couple of engineers in it. XD
Still, if it looks good on paper, there's your hypothesis. Now go install that baby and see what it can really do. |

Re: I has a new toy.
Good luck on getting a Supra, they're quite pricey still.
I'm not sure why more people don't like the 3000GT's, I mean, they come stock twin turbo'd, and will beat all of the other cars in it's class, the RX-7, Supra, 300ZX, STI, Evo and even Skyline (all stock vs. stock), Not to mention it's all wheel drive AND all wheel steering. And you can still pick one up for about 13 grand....if you can find one for sale that is. It's an amazing car and I wouldn't mind buying another one if I get the chance. VR-4 all the way baby Last edited by darkshark; 02-4-2009 at 11:46 AM.. |

Re: I has a new toy.
Well, if you look for used ones on ebay/kijiji you can find good deals. One time there was a silver supra with bodykits and twin turbo for $4800 (canadian!). I like the 3000GT's but not as much as the supra. I'd probably go for an RX-7 or Skyline if there were good deals. If there was a REALLY great deal I'd consider the 3000GT. I'm just 15 right now and have about $20 so I can't think about it too much yet!

$4800?? Then there was something seriously wrong with it, like it didn't have an engine or something major, because even a crappy Supra RZ won't go for under 20k. RX-7's you have to be careful with, they have Rotary engines, which tend to crap out after about 100k miles, and are extremely expensive to fix, and even harder to find parts for. Skylines are pretty good all around, just OMFG expensive. I got to see the new GT-R up close last week at the Nissan dealership.....drop...dead...gorgeous car, if I had a spare $100,000, I'd get one in a heartbeat xD Last edited by darkshark; 02-4-2009 at 12:19 PM.. |

Re: I has a new toy.
I just searched for some, for fun and 2 matches came up, a 92 3000GT VR4 for 9,500 Canadian and a 98 3000GT for 7,250 Canadian.

I want a fast car but I don't have a car. I have a 2001 standard S10 and I suck at shifting.

Re: I has a new toy.
because they are extremely heavy, have reliability issues and are very hard to work on.
that turbo is silly and there's no way you could have room for it in the bay unless you take out all accessories and the other two turbos!
