Fun fun. I got myself in deep crap for showing this to my mom and saying "this is what I believe." She's a radical feminist. She's also racist. What does that tell you right there?

For the love of God, what's so wrong about the service to be seeking high prices? Why is it so immoral for barbers and dry cleaners to be looking for more money? It's capitalism, my friends! Capitalism! It's no worse than a consumer looking for a low price. In short, you asking for a lower price is just as immoral as the provider looking for a higher price.

Why is discrimination wrong in the first place? Any good businessman knows that one can take severe advantage of a discriminated ethnicity and make millions of profits. Have blacks to the work of whites for 80% of the pay and you're making how much more money?

Now, why is it that it's ok to discriminate like that, though? There are actual reasons behind being paid less for the same jobs. With women you have to worry about maternal duties and maternity leave (the worst vacation you'll ever have). You cannot deny that it is much more likely for women to follow the role of parent earlier in the child's development (it's how it worked in my family). It's also undeniable that a woman is much more likely to get pregnant and have to leave her job (and stop being productive) than a man is. Hiring women also has the risk of getting sexual harassment charges and the added costs of installing new facilities (a Southwestern Airlines office near here installed lower water fountains. They were low enough for women and handicapped to drink comfortably but most men found it very uncomfortable). In short, hiring women has a higher risk and greater cost than hiring men.

While we're on discrimination, why don't we ask about the discrimination against men? Why does it cost more for us to buy insurance (life and auto)? Shouldn't that be equal? One insurance that's bothering me more is the huge rate for car insurance for a teenage boy. Why aren't girls subject to the same rates? Why aren't my elders?

The ultimate reason, as Jared Diamond would call it, is that we are all different. Accept that and stop whining.

It had to be said, ayane.

And I completely agree with Q and then some. I despise the thought that businesses are forced to hire people when it would be much more to their advantage to not do so. Same goes for firings. Any business owner should be allowed to get rid of any worker for any reason. It's his (or her) business.

Let's reenforce this a bit. Why is it that the employee (or prospective employee) can turn down a job because the employer is of a certain race, sex, or belief and employers can't? Is that what you call fair?

And affirmative action. How's that affirmative. It's taxing the whites. It goes the same with women. Why should they get more job opprotunities than men just because they are women? It taxes men!

I agree with Ayanepuck (omg hi ayane. i no see you for long time) and Jewpin here. Equal rights, not special rights, should be their goal.

So, the underlying message is:

"While you're trying to get "more" rights for women, you're actually enforcing "fewer" rights for men."

Done and done.
