As everyone knows the Super Bowl is about a day away, so I thought I'd get FFR's opinion on who the winner will be. Personally I would love the Cardinals to win for two reasons because Kurt Warner the QB(I'm from St.Louis where he used to play
) and no one dserves to have a drought as long as they have(second longest next to Cubs). But I think the Steelers have the advantage because of experience. Its your choice FFR.![]() |

Steelers should walk all over the Cardinals. Their team is way more built and evened out in both offense and especially defense. Cardinals just cant beat it, their offense relies on like one receiver to make big plays and defense, it is just all over the place. Im waiting to see a blow out.
Super Bowl champions = Steelers |

I lived in MO and it would be cool if the Cardinals won, but I'm not really thinking they will. I just want to see an interesting game and not have one team completely thrash the other at like 50 to 0 or something, lol.

Even though that the Steeler's are going to take this game with no problems, I want the Cardinals to win because I have a habit of rooting for the underdog when a team I like isn't playing.

Rugby is where it's at. P.S. Cardinals because I always root for the underdog when I could care less who wins. |

Cardinals because the underdogs are always awesome.
And... You suck, Toronto sucks (well their sports teams), *rants about how unsuccessful Torontonian teams have been*

I'm a Steelers fan, have been my entire life. Outside of that, I like the Cardinals, though I find the trend of loving the underdog because they're the underdog ridiculous. I mean, picking the Cardinals because it's fashionable? Wow. Any Cardinals fan who shows disrespect to the Steelers can go die in a fire. If not for a former Steelers coordinator and the coach your crappy ownership fired (Dennis Green, who drafted the most talented players on the team) you'd still be at the basement of the pitiful NFC West. As a football fan in general, trash talking for the sake of doing so makes you a moron. I'm into the rivalries as much as anybody else, though I have a respect for the game and the league, so I'm not a sniveling dong-surfer who trashes other teams because somebody told me I shouldn't like them. As for the outcome of the game, I've been saying for years that the Steelers in their modern form can win a championship. When they went 8-8 a couple of years ago I thought they weren't playing up to their abilities and standards. Last year at 10-6, I felt they could play with almost anyone. Now they've gotten even better and I think the Steelers can play with and beat anybody in the league. However, simple things can change a game very quickly. Either team has the talent and ability to win. That's why they're the only two teams left standing. Granted, this is not always the case. But it's very true this year. If the Steelers win this one, who's to say the Cardinals wouldn't have won a re-match the very next day? The same is also true in reverse. If I have to pick with my head and not my heart, I still have to pick the Steelers. They have been consistent on defense all year long, and their offense has produced enough to get them by in the bad times, while having proven explosive in the past couple years when playing to their potential and with adequate pass blocking. This Arizona team has not been as consistent. They got blown out by the Patriots in an unbelievable matchup, whether they cared about the game or not. Nobody goes in and tries to lose a game. Except for perhaps the Lions (not an insult, just a sad, wry joke). Both their offense and defense have played hot-and-cold, and lucky enough for them, they've heated up at just the right time. However --and this goes for both teams-- trends are a way we can predict things. The past does not have an active role in deciding the future. The quality of the offensive, defensive, and special teams schemes and their execution by the players is what will matter, and that's what will decide the winner tomorrow. None of the popular media storylines really work. Whisenhunt's prior experience with Roethlisberger means nothing. Roethlisberger has changed in style over the past couple of years, and so has this offense. A great deal is different. And the offense is much improved over just a couple of weeks ago, so don't even think about last year. Aside from that, you can toss aside Arizona's victory against the Eagles. It means nothing for this game. The Cardinals' ability to run quick-fire underneath routes against the Eagles' defense does not mean they can do the same to the Steelers. True, they both like to blitz, but their styles of coverage and blitzing are quite different, and Dick LeBeau is the originator and master of the zone blitz. The Steelers were also number one against the pass this year, and have been the number one overall defense for the past two years. They've also done an incredible job containing some of the league's best performing quarterbacks. True, the Colts won, but the Steelers kept Manning in check for most of the game. The Giants won through a series of bizarre game-changing events. Matt Cassel, who had put up two back to back 400 yard games against the two teams they'd played before the Steelers, was reduced to rubble. The Chargers' efforts went nowhere. Joe Flacco, who had been a big-time rookie powering one of the most prolific scoring offenses this season, was shut down. I could go on and on. If you believe anything other than both teams being able to win the game, and defend your position through pseudo-fact, you need to sit down with the game for a good week, and actually learn something about football.

The Arizona defense needs to contain Parker, Ward (should he play with his bad knee), and Roethlisberger.
While the Pittsburgh defense needs to contain Warner, James, Hightower, Fitzgerald, and Boldin. I pick Arizona over Pittsburgh, 38-27. |
