I spent $282.16 on clothes in 2008.
I think this is mostly correct; I saved the receipts for most if not all of the purchases I've made, but may have missed an online purchase or two. No more than $350 I'm sure. I generally shop in clearance because otherwise I'd be spending much more. Usually when something gets stained or stretched out I wear it as gym clothes and that sort of thing. The interweb says people spend something like $1,550 per year on clothes. Has anyone else saved all their receipts like I have?

I dont save my receipts, but I probably spend about 600 dollars on clothing including shoes. I'm planning on cutting that in half this year though since i have to pay for university soon

Then I suppose you don't grow at all, or you wear extreme high waters. Because one pair of pants these days regularly will cost more than 50 bucks-- at a normal clothing store at least.

I'd say I spend about $300 per year on average. This year I needed to get a bunch of new jeans and a couple pairs of shoes plus shirts and stuff so probably a little more.

I agree, and I usually shop at Abercrombie, Hollister, and Lucky Brand so it makes me seriously think I lost a few receipts along the way. I never buy anything at regular price(90 dollar jeans for 20, 80 dollar jeans for 30, 100 dollar sweater for 25) because I'd be limiting the amount of things I could get. Another thing this thread has made me think about is shoes, which I didn't count. If I did, I would probably add about a hundred and twenty dollars, so my original figure is probably more like $400 or so. I'll bet most kids who don't buy things on clearance spend several times this.

I worked at a designer store in my town so I ended up buying a lot of moderately expensive stuff there (my most recent purchase consisted of a pair of $80 jeans and two shirts that cost around $100 together). So I/my parents do spend a good deal of money of clothes for me. I wouldn't know the exact amount seeing as I usually don't keep receipts. I try to catch sales as much as possible but I don't worry to much if the item of purchase is at full price.

I've spent $0 on clothing since the year 1992. Funny enough it seems I was born that year.
I get aprox. 10 new pieces of clothing per year. (As gifts from relatives.) P.S. I don't buy cheap fabric with a logo that costs $200. :\ Instead I buy cheap metal shaped together to form micro processors, with logos that cost one hell of a lot more than $200.

All of my comfortable clothing is comprised of plaid sweats, torn up jackets and band shirts. The ratio of comfortable clothes to "nice" clothes, which includes jeans, is ~6:1. I spend well over 1000 a year on clothing, or at least I did when I was a teenager. Now that I have clothes accumulated from over the years I don't need to buy as much. I probably spend about $300 on clothes every 6 months. Like I said, I won't even go into shoes. As a side note, I didn't even really start buying nice clothes UNTIL became an adult. When I was in highschool I wore the aforementioned "comfortable clothes" and slippers/sandals. Edit: Most of you guys are, well, guys, anyways. Edit: lol
