you never rule out the possibility of someone being bs, but there is a point where it's safe to say they're not. the fact is some people are full of shit so it's not wrong to question scores. otherwise we'll end up with another nima.
even though it does get ridiculous sometimes, it's just part of stepmania lyfe mang. also videos do help but they don't rule out someone being bs either. I could easily make a disregard AAAA vid with smac on and show ini in the exact same manner or better than most people's vids but that obviously wouldn't make it legit. so really dossar, there's definitely reasons to believe you're bs, undoubtedly so. but on the other hand it's reasonable to say your scores are legit. honestly anyone who has common [stepmania] sense will have some doubt in your scores. In my opinion though, you play so much stepmania to the point of ridiculousness that it'd be sad if your scores were bs (and thats my reason to believe you) [/essay]

I have to agree with everything sam wrote. That's always been my exact opinion of dossar's scores. He improves at such a ridiculous rate that I have to just assume that he plays far more stepmania than anyone ever should.

Also sam, it's a good thing you understood what I was saying because whenever I asking something like that the people on odi would usually overreact and start swearing at me like fuc saying Im calling bs even though thats way off my point Last edited by DossarLX ODI; 12-8-2008 at 08:35 PM.. |

Sam: I'm not sure if that comparison is quite fair. Many things pointed to Nima being obvious BS, and people were just being stupid about it. In this case, there's nothing that clearly indicates that Dossar is BS other than the fact that his improvement rate is very high and there are some weird inconsistencies. However, his explanation for it is still plausible, even when considering that his "tactics" are quite unorthodox.
Some things are a little fishy, but to be honest, the vids are legitimate enough, in my eyes. The only thing, though, that I'm not quite up to date on is the FFR experience. What were the kinds of performances on FFR songs four weeks before the 0x AA?

And to Ed, yes my ffr experience was not nearly that good but you can take a shortcut in speeding up your improving rate by using your own strategy. Back in february/march, like I stated on ODI, I would play 0x1311 on a lowered rate and then do well enough to pass it 1.0x rate. At that time I used stepmania anti-cheat so I played some jack files in between cause it was boring but I played 0x1311 for quite some time and got a relatively low AA with smac (although sam you stated smac isn't too reliable but I used it to try and defend up my scores back then). Edit: To MrRubix, I started out on easy beginner songs but I only played like two before I started to say "wow this is stupid, I want something more challenging" and I went on the tricky-challenging stepfiles, sometimes having trouble passing cause I didnt use speedmods back then and I sucked hard at reading the arrows lawl. Of course at that time I didn't have an account, but I got the main point of sm already when I figured out about sm: hit the corresponding arrows on the screen. rofl Last edited by DossarLX ODI; 12-8-2008 at 09:02 PM.. |

I didn't even know about the options section so yea pretty much lol but I did get some good mashing combos, horrible scores overall. I had to play on the numpad with the good ol' windows 98 pos keyboard

But I assume at that time you were already more or less a pro at reading arrows assuming they were of readable speed?

it's like you guys are saying that if you can read the arrows you automatically do awesome on certain simfiles. which is retarded......
it should take longer than like 4 weeks to develop the finger dexterity and speed to play files like 0x1311

But to AA such things? You don't have to be absurdly fast to get a low-AA. The trick is simply getting your fingers to respond to what you're reading in real-time. You don't need, in itself, high speed. I'll just say that when it comes to speed files, 0x is on the easy side.
