LightKnight had some kind of battle-writing thing a few years back and I was the first person he challenged.

At the same time, I don't write competitively, as that just sounds insane and somewhat stupid. At least, in this regard. I'm all for writing contests, but not a one on one writing battle with someone.

... As it stands, I was kidding about being the best writer on here. There was a guy, only 1 post -- and it won him a subscription, and he hasn't posted since -- that wrote a story that took everything, in my opinion, that I ever wrote to town. Plus, some of the other regulars write excellently as well. I just have a greater volume, as I tend to... never edit things. It really saves time not carying if the stuff going up is crappy or whatnot.

FFR definitely needs more activity in its Literature forum. A huge (openly publicized) writing contest would probably do the trick.

Despite TRD's return as FFR Awards manager, this year's event wasn't exactly up to par (and by no fault of TRD's, mind you). The sheer magnitude of voter ignorance was such that even a few categories were somehow surmounted by unprecedented (and perhaps unfitting) winners. You know which ones they are - I need not say. Of course, part of it was due to the invariable effect of forum exclusion (i.e. BB members vote for BB members, CC for CC, GB for GB, etc.), which was markedly pronounced in some categories, leading to notable underrepresentation of smaller and/or less interested demographics. This problem is probably the main pitfall of FFR Awards.

Other than that, most of the winners were pretty deserving, though the overall accuracy of the results is still not enough to compensate for the amount of garbage processed over the course of the event. Hopefully, next year will produce a healthier proportion of competent voters.

Note: Obviously, I'm (semi-)addressing the people who trashed up the voting thread, etc.

Too many people tried to buy votes this year. If you were in any of the chats during voting then you probably saw people saying "plzplz vote for me I'll give you 5000 credits plzplzplz". People also just voted for friends is a lot of the categories. Even though they had no reason to be nominated.
