Oh god...where do I begin?
My most common habit is my arm severely tensing up during hard songs - so much that I usually can't play over two or so minutes out of sheer pain. This affects me only on high FMOs and FGOs, but it explains why I have so many bad ranks on those songs. ![]() My sister has pointed out that my mouth twitches up and down very fast in periods where I'm concentrating really hard on a song (such as if I'm AAAing or FCing a hard song) - I'm totally unaware of it even when I concentrate on when I do it - I had to look at one of my old FFR videos to actually see it for myself. Like others have mentioned, sometimes my legs shake violently and suddenly during a song, although when it happens, I can make it stop and start up on command. ![]() In the past, my thumb and pinky would stretch out so hard that I couldn't finish some songs. Now that I've gotten better at the game, my thumb doesn't do that, but my pinky still does (although it doesn't really hurt as opposed to the thumb). I squirm in my chair a lot when I get pissed off at the game (usually when I've been whoring a song unsuccessfully for an AAA). I have never gotten a single mental block on a song from repetitious playing. Every one I've ever received is a result of me thinking about the pattern. Unfortunately, once I start thinking about the pattern, I can't stop - very frustrating. Thankfully, the blocks on these songs usually fade (although they temporarily come back quite often). However, really fast/complex songs are too intense for this phenomenon to occur. That's all I can think of at the moment. I had no idea many people shared the same weird habits I do. ~Bynary Fission EDIT: Just remembered another one. If I think about my eyes drying out, that actually causes it - then I start blinking a lot, and it screws me up, etc. Last edited by Bynary Fission; 12-3-2008 at 08:59 AM.. |

one of my worse habits is to lean back uncontrollably, as if i'm on a rollercoaster, especially on songs that are really fast or have massive bursts.
plus getting nervous towards the end of songs (no matter how easy) and swearing massively when i get goods (laggy or otherwise) Last edited by retching oesophagus; 12-3-2008 at 10:04 AM.. |

My feet both tap the ground fast when I'm getting to a part I know is challenging, like I need to get nerves out or something.
I never have noticed it while I play, but all of my friends that have seen me play start cracking up because they say I play with my mouth wide open and I never shut it. One time I did accidentally drool on myself though, and I realized that they were right. |

I swish the saliva in my mouth while I play and I don't even realize it until a silent part comes up.

I forget (or refuse) to breathe in hard parts which makes me light-headed.

Weird habits? Uh...whenever I try to AAA a song harder than diff 4, my right thumb subconsciously interlocks itself with my left thumb while I play (since I play spread, this makes it pretty difficult to concentrate). I also realized that it aids tremendously in FC'ing jacks.
Do anyone else's thumbs mysteriously interlock while playing?

I also have a tendency to hit the Ctrl key (with which hand, I'm not sure) on harder songs. That's why I switched to X C , . layout: it doesn't cause any effect. Ctrl + L does, though; that's why I don't use A S K L layout.

When I'm trying to FC songs that are harder for me, or AAA some songs, I'll end up holding my breath until I either miss or finish the song. If I miss, when I let out my air I call FFR the first bad word that pops into my head. ^_^
Also noticed that I tend to move my feet around a lot while I'm playing, but thankfully it doesn't mess me up. Last thing is when I'm playing for a while or focusing completely on a song, my eyes start to refocus and everything around the screen gets dark. That happen to anyone else? >_>

My hands form a sort of claw thing. My fingers curl up forcing me to hit the start key a lot. I've removed it from about 4 keyboards that I've played on through the years.
Also I tend to get unbelievably angry, much more angry than I get at anything else it's pretty ridiculous |

When I'm playing FFR I zone out big time, and think about random things.
I hit the arrows completely subconsciously. Sometimes this helps, sometimes it hurts.

I do this too me and llama llama were talking about this it's so wierd how you can completely zone out, maybe watch the tv from the corner of your eye, not notice at all, then zone back in and notice you comboed the song.

I only need 3 seconds :)

I don't use my wrists when I play (maybe I do, but not as much as most people do). It's weird, I use a muscle in my back more than a muscle in my arm. It's why I can play for hours of hard songs without really tiring out at all.

I make weird faces, especially when hitting jacks. I squint during long 16th streams, and I usually bob my whole upper body up and down in sync with jumps.
