Default A little tip for all firefox users

A little tip i found from a friend of mine.

The actual site is here http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1299854/posts

Might as well just post what it says.

Quote:
Here's something for broadband people that will really speed Firefox up:

1.Type "about:config" into the address bar and hit return. Scroll down and look for the following entries:

network.http.pipelining network.http.proxy.pipelining network.http.pipelining.maxrequests

Normally the browser will make one request to a web page at a time. When you enable pipelining it will make several at once, which really speeds up page loading.

2. Alter the entries as follows:

Set "network.http.pipelining" to "true"

Set "network.http.proxy.pipelining" to "true"

Set "network.http.pipelining.maxrequests" to some number like 30. This means it will make 30 requests at once.

3. Lastly right-click anywhere and select New-> Integer. Name it "nglayout.initialpaint.delay" and set its value to "0". This value is the amount of time the browser waits before it acts on information it recieves.

If you're using a broadband connection you'll load pages MUCH

faster now!
It works wonders, however, if your skeptical, try it for yourselves, or read the reviews of other people who use this little trick here.

Spread the word :P

You know, doing this for your ENTIRE network connection might be better.

You all need to up your RWin and hope your MTU is in range.

Run first:
http://www.dslreports.com/stest

Run second:
http://www.dslreports.com/tweaks

And, with that, you can attain your maximum bandwidth glory!

Most I had already on "true", but the nglayout.initialpaint.delay = 0 really speeds things up... good show!

Blah, that's fine, but I would still up your RWin.

And my connection is crazy weird, but very much beneficial for me. This was basically an average.

Your download speed : 3641926 bps, or 3556 kbps.
A 444.5 KB/sec transfer rate.
Your upload speed : 400978 bps, or 391 kbps.

My upload sucks, but my download owns the world.

I'm like Squeek. My download speed was nearly 3mbit- 2700 kbps. My upload speed was only 345 kbps, though.

Yay for cable. And keep in mind, people, this is on a 208.11g wireless router. Yay also for internet tweakers.
