Default Three Questions

1.) Is it against the rules to use several keys to play FFR? I mean, use AHK or some program like that to have every key on my keyboard count as an arrow, so I can use various fingers to play (as long as none of the keys count for multiple arrows at once)?

2.) Is it against the rules to setup a separate gambling account to ensure I don't get out of control "I CAN STILL WIN THIS!" on this account?

3.) What exactly is Double Setup? :P

1 and 3) Yes, that is illegal. You are only allowed to use 4 keys, one to each of the buttons. Double Setup is when you have 2 sets of keys mapped to the arrows and use both. For instance, if you have a long left arrow jack, instead of hitting the left arrow with one finger, you alternate on 2 separate keys (like l arrow and 8) to hit them.

2) I don't see why another account just to gamble would be against the rules.

1/3) Yes, it's against the rules. This is actually what double setup is (8 inputs usually). You can only use 4 inputs.

2) No, this is not against the rules.

Okay, thanks. That's kinda what I though DS was.

Last question, not that important: Is DS frowned upon in the SM community? I know a lot of people do it, and it just seems like a cool idea to me.

VERY YES. DS is like the ultimate sin of SM. And FFR.

the only setup where it's ok to have more than 4 keys available is using the 4 arrow keys + the 3 numpad keys, since both sets are given to you automatically. you can NOT use them at the same time in a double set up... but i know even Shash switched setups at least once: he used to play left, down, 8, 6... but for the left hand trill in FotBB, he switched to left index on left and right index on 2 (something like that), then quickly switched back. aka, he index'd the trill, but spread'd the rest of the song. at no point was he using 2 inputs for any 1 arrow at the same time... but he was using 2 inputs for arrows at different times.

That's cool. That's still DS, but I guess in a minor enough form not to be 'd upon.

It's kinda like how I play some songs spread/index/one hand in various setups. Like, I'll spread the first left-to-right roll in Pimp Slap, and custom setup the rest.

So I could DS on that, as long as I use the numpad and switch between the two key sets rather than using them at any random convenience?

My normal setup is JKOP, which is L Index, R Index, R Middle, R Ring. Would I be allow to have L as up and : as right throughout the entire song, so long as I use them with extreme discretion and change my finger setup altogether?

Also, I'm gonna learn DS for SM xD
It's more fun.

as long as you're not using 2 setups at the same time for the advantage of increasing your ability to hit jacks/trills and/or increase pa. like on vROFL, CP, etc are normal examples. people use 2 inputs and mash them both at the same time. so long as you're playing "normally" throughout... really, there isn't much reason to have to switch key setups, except in a rare situation like i mentioned above.

What if someone uses DS on a song like vRofl? Would they get in trouble, or just have the score deleted when it gets too high?

DS is double setup, meaning you use two sets of keys for the same arrows (e.g using 4 +6 and A + L for left-right patterns). It's illegal, and can get you blacklisted.

IMO, DS should be frowned upon in all non-Crowdpleaser scores (lol)

To be perfectly honest, I tried to DS FC AIM Anthem a while back before I knew it was against the rules, and found it far harder because of the weird ways you have to move both hands to make it work. (don't say "thats what she said") I never will FC that file...

So basically, it's okay to move your fingers around to different setups, but not to press two keys at the same time that both map to one FFR arrow.

icee: That's what she said.

or even to alternate. like, someone could use 4 keys to do the FotBB trill, so that it gets treated as a big roll. or long jacks to be treated like a trill. that's not allowed.

so then why was s0ulst0n3 criticized for using qwa lop? when the a and l keys were only used for left down trills?

what about using two fingers on the same key? like...alternating left and right index fingers on one arrow?
