SGX - Lux Aeterna - Requiem for a Dream [SGX's Transient Mix]
Download it or stream it: http://www.protagonistrecords.net/?q=node/80 Hope you dig. It's one of the more badass tracks I've done. |

Brb suicide from remembering this movie.
Edit: OH DEAR GOD 2:43 Yeah, that's seriously badass. Someone should step it from about 2:40 or so on. So awesome.

Hehe. Yeah. I was thinking about watching the movie again to get in the spirit of it before working on the track and possibly for naming inspiration, but then I watched a music video of clips to the Oakenfold remix of this track and remembered how awful it made me feel the first time and decided not to watch.
I'd like to make a short edit for simfile folks. Should be coming whenever I get off my ass. I don't think FFR could use it though, right? I don't have any formal permission from the copyright holders, though this is technically a cover, not a remix since I did not use audio from the original recording. |

Doesn't it depend on the length of the sample... or something?
I have no idea...

That song is awesome. That would also be a very cool song to have in FFR.

I'll make sure I think of this song every time I'm shooting heroin.

I've heard this track so many times as of now, I'm more or less sick of it, so it'll be interesting to see what you did with it.
The first thing I notice that the bass drums simply did not seem strong at all, not even enough to the point of carrying the beat when the synth was in full force. In a track that's focused on breakbeats, you must have the drums strong enough to rock the place when the volume is up. Try upping the lower frequency on them, that will improve how well they stand out. I also didn't feel like the track did not fully release tension. Yes, I understand that you were probably going with that feeling, being based off one of the most powerful movies/books of all time. Maybe it was the way the strings didn't match the tone of the synth, I don't know why I didn't feel like the track released tension. The rest of the track, I really have to say, I simply didn't like. I can't explain why, and I can't explain how, but I simply didn't like it. I'm sure others will, but I've heard this track redone and remixed so many times that another in the pile is simply the same thing. NOTE: Again, alow me to state that this is simply my opinion, and you may take it as you will. I'm not insulting you. I'm not saying you're a bad composer. I'm simply giving my take on it. Last time I posted a less-than-positive review, I was pretty much ripped to shreds. |

Pretty good. First time the drum beat kicks in, it seems out of place. Once the cymbals kick in it starts to mesh better, and the bass synth really makes it start to work.
From 2:43 on its siiiiick. its stepabable too

I like it a lot.
Everything I would critique it on has been said and I am not going to be repetitive. |

Made a short edit. Grab it: http://www.sgxmusic.com/music/step/S...t%20169bpm.mp3 Just remember with this I cannot really give official permission for use in FFR and whatnot since it is someone else's copyrighted work.

I didn't think a remix had to contain samples of the original.
Tass seemed to think that it was fine for FFR use.
