I Worry for Obama

I hate to have the pessimist's viewpoint, but I have a really bad feeling about this. I'm glad that Obama won, but I think the poor man is going to be assassinated before he can even begin to make progress for America. America's come a long way in terms of race relations, but there are still so many citizens out there that simply cannot accept people of color. The ones who go as far as to use violence against the people they hate, in my opinion, are often the ones with the most preposterous motives for that hatred, though no motive is an acceptable one. That's what makes them so threatening, and therefor, an event such as assassination so likely. There just isn't any reasoning with some people. I have no doubt in my mind that there is at least one group out there that will do anything it takes to keep a black man from becoming president. I'm positive Obama is more than aware of this as well, and I must say that I admire his bravery and perseverence. He's truly a pioneer. I just hope that extremist idiots will not be able to halt this new era of progress before it begins, or ever, for that matter. Would anybody care to submit a similar opinion or perhaps object to this one?

Yes, there are still some people who still can't accept a black president just yet. A lot of people are saying that he will be assassinated cause of his race but seriously, it's just a possibility. If he does happen to be assassinated, in the future, there will be chaos in america due to race.

In my opinion, i think he has a less chance, than some people think, that he's to be assassinated because the "groups" who are thinking about assassinating him will know that a lot of people are expecting him to be assassinated if that makes any sense.

I think they are a lot more prepared then the extremists. I am not worried at all.

Unless there's evidence of anyone plotting his assassination, I don't believe he will be assassinated. A lot of people like him too much, and I think that if any group or person who even thinks about wanting to assassinate him would think of the consequences thereafter because they would be HATED by the rest of the country.

Unless they have no family or nothing else to live for and his/her life sucks, then yeah. It's not likely that he will get assassinated by someone who hates him. I'm honestly surprised that no one tried to assassinate Bush. >_> And hardly anyone likes him anymore!

You talk as if he's going to stand out in the open all day and night just waiting for it to happen. We're not idiots. He even spoke last night behind bulletproof glass.

Probably because the last presidential assassination was so long ago. Although I am willing to bet that their strategy's to protect the president have increased just as much as technology has.

For those too lazy to click the links or watch the videos on the site, a state of emergency has been declared for Olive Branch, MS(northernmost MS, near Memphis TN) because a white supremacist group is holding a conference in a hotel nearby. David Duke, a former leader of the KKK, is, in part, heading this up. Apparently, they are discussing plans as well as something to do with the presidential candidates.

Planning some type of assassination? Maybe? Maybe not. But yeah, I do worry for Obama, though I don't think anything will happen to him. I'm sure that they are going to great lengths to protect him.

Actually I to was thinking that he will most likely be assassinated. Clearly I do not wish this to happen, as I voted for him myself, but one of my friends, family, seems to think Obama is the anti christ, and another lady was convinced he was an Arab.

Well yeah. Don't get me wrong, I was mostly posting the links because it's 5 miles from me, and kinda worries me, and because I found it pretty interesting. I'm sure we have plenty going on behind the scenes concerning Obama's protection. He IS the president, he WILL be protected, and some redneck hillbillies aren't exactly going to have to best shot at killing him.

The anti-christ has to be liked by EVERYONE. Supposedly, he would be doing so much good, that no one would look at him with a bad eye. There are too many people that hate Obama already. Also, people speculate that the anti-christ would be living somewhere in the middle east. Tell those people that :P.

they talked about this on cnn last night. they said the secret services are a million times better + more efficient than people think. When's the last time a president was assasinated? look at the technology we have now.

As someone who's met... two Presidents, I can assure you that the security/protection is absurdly thick. I wouldn't worry.

There will always be attempts... but I think they've considered how revolutionary this new appointment is and have adjusted their risk predictions accordingly.
