Linux.
It's the best for everything as long as you're willing to put hundreds of hours into perfecting it for your use. |

Fixed for moar sarcasm, and do you mean 200MB of RAM, or maybe just 200KB? (Also, it's 256, not 200)

200MB of RAM? Do you mean 256MB maybe?
Anyways, Linux is the best OP system to use IMHO. I use Kubuntu. :3

Mans0n obviously has no idea what he's talking about...150GB of RAM? Uhhhhhhhhhhh...what?
Is it me, or are people seriously confusing hard disk space with random access memory? EDIT: o_O EDIT2: Seriously? |

Irrelevant, the operating system has little effect compared to your computer specs.

What's wrong with Dell? Besides for the XPS's they're very durable and flexible OS wise. Other laptops I've tried putting Unbuntu on had computability issues. I've also dropped this laptop multiple times and the few times it has broken due to my really ****ing stupid friends Dell has fixed it in under a week. The prices are also great. Also that D500 looks pretty good for FFR, wouldn't use it for any other gaming though. Also to clear things up it has 1GB of RAM and a 1.3GHz single core processor.
Different OS's use different amounts of resources. Vista uses quite a bit unless you optimize it but then it still uses quite a bit. That's why things are slower on a Vista than on an XP. Also from my experiences Mac's OS X eats up a lot of resources too. Get a good Linux OS if you really care about your computer that much but I don't recommend it unless you know what you're doing. I've played FFR on Vista, Ubuntu, XP and a Mac. The only difference was the keyboard on the mac, and I had a flash issue with Vista (a simple reinstall fixed that). Other than that my game play was extremely similar.
EDIT: Also on SUSE. Even you mention the resources, and the issue is mostly dependent on hardware. |

Ok, lets say you have a computer with 512MB Ram and a 1.6GHz Intel Celeron Processor. Run that on XP and FFR runs smoothly. Now run that on Vista...it would be hell. You need to take both your hardware and OS into consideration when seeing how fast your computer will seem to work. |

don't think the operating system is a factor (not a big one at least) in playing ffr

I have an XP, 768MB ram, 1.3ghz processor, and FFR and SM run faster on this better than any comp I've ever played on. Both are Dell. |

My 7 year old PC with 1.8 ghz processor runs stepmania and ffr like a charm. At least it ran ffr before they ****ed it up beyond playable. My newer vista pc with 2.5 ghz quad core and 3gb's of ram and 8800 gts chokes on ffr. Clearly not enough system resources to run this intense flash game. My new xp laptop with 2.5 ghz dual core used to play ffr reallly well to, but not anymore.
Just get windows xp. It is the easiest to install and get working correctly. Just don't get vista if you are planning on playing tons of ffr.
