Here's another interesting discussion, I found something like this in a Game Informer magazine.
If you could download a game (price is the same) instead of buying it from a store, would you? Last edited by footbull3196; 09-19-2008 at 09:16 PM.. |

It depends on how big the game is, or if I bought the CD, can I install it several times? I'd probably just buy the CD, I'm not very patient.

The good thing about downloading games is that they can pretty much last forever because CD's get scratched and smudged and broken, and you eventually have to replace it.
But then again, there's no real way to take the game somewhere else or trade it in if you don't like it. I would personally say the CD, as long as I take good care of it. |

Yeah, you just get this feeling of ownership...same reason why I buy CD's.

I saw that article in game informer. They pretty much broke it down, downloading today's games would be insane considering the size.
Wait an entire week to download, or a simple drive to the game store. |

I think it's not a huge deal to download games. If anything it's a little easier for me to stay organized and not have to find cd cases and stuff.
But I really hate to purchase and download music online because it's simply not the same. I like to take my CDs with me and to only have it on my hard drive is really frustrating. I guess you could say that I should carry around an iPod or something, but I don't have one so... meh. |

This would depend entirely on how the game company markets it.
Blizzard's online store is awesome, and exactly how I would want every online game distribution method to be. You have an account on the website, which is credited with purchases for whatever games you've bought from the store. You can then download those games onto any computer you want. I have a fast connection, so the actual download for me takes less time than driving to the store and picking a game up (unless the game is some ungodly size), and it's cheaper on gas. Not to mention I could go do other things while the game is downloading. |

CD because if your computer crash and you loose everything, you'll be happy to have the CD to reinstal it instead of rebuying it.

About this, I know a system of buying games online where you just have to download (trusted site) their program, make an account on it, and you have your game saved onto your account, then you can download it to your computer, rather than directly to your computer where it can easily get lost. I'd rather buy online with that system.

I'd probably pirate it online. If I was actually going to buy it, though, CD. Definitely.
Hard drives aren't always reliable. (Nice 666 posts, x After Dawn x)

Wow, this is really weird. It appears that the voting is about even. Some say yes, some say no, some say it depends on the game.
Wow, I would have expected 1 side to clearly win, but so far, it hasn't happened. |
