I think we are going to switch services but this service is completely honest and reputable. No hidden charges, no recurring charges.. You just pay once for what you agree to. (if your carrier supports it! ha!)

Uh, What's the big deal guys?
Honestly, besides being a small incentive to buy the album, I don't see anything wrong with having a token as a gift for being courteous/willing to buy an album for -an artist-. If it is such a friggin' big deal, then, there are definitely other ways to resolve the "tokentard" issue. If tokens are that important to people, then why don't we just include another way to access to the token we give out with album sales through "another", "more important >_>" way of helping the site; such a a subscription. Since people are complaining about paying a small amount of money for "getting the token", not even thinking about who their helping out in the interim, then just include access to "a" or "multiple" tokens upon buying a subscription. Maybe upon purchasing a subbie you get directed to a token page, in which the subscriber has a choice to which token (including anything we are putting through sales here) they'd like to receive, and token(s) amounts are based solely upon the length of the subscription bought. Honestly, if 6 or 7 dollars is too much for a user to pay, I'm sure 3.50 (for a month subscription) is quite feasable, especially with the amount of subscribers we have now. Any thoughts? |

I'd like to see something like scott's idea. Of course, you'd be paying much less (about half) for a one-month subscription, but that payment is directly given to FFR, and doesn't need to be split with an artist. Being able to choose a token/s based on the length of subcription that you buy is a very good idea.

The only part I don't like about subscriptions is the fact that bans override them. I can live with forum-banning, but for a ban to override a paid subscription is a little much. A forum ban shouldn't screw with the functionality of my subscription, where the functions of that subscription only extend to the forums in the form of a subbie forum.

IMO skill/tokens are not extra. They are accessible within the game, so they are part of it. Widgets are outside of the game. If you want to sell access to levels or "give them away with a purchase" I suggest having the levels be in a restricted-access widget(s).

Is there a way I can buy a subby or something and unlock the token as well? I would buy it, I really would, but they still haven't texted me the password and I want the token. >=(
Unfair.

Because I disagree 100% with the punishments of my ban. I would not care/evade so much if banning didn't screw with my subscription. That just makes me very upset. A forum ban should have no effect whatsoever on my game purchases. I paid for a subscription so I could play subscriber levels and have access to the other functions that subscribers do, but a forum ban somehow removes access to all that.
I am all in favor of supporting FFR monetarily speaking, but removing the functionality of my subscriber status once I've paid for it after being banned for something so innocuous compared to what goes on in these forums is just crazy. If you were to give me back my subscriber access, I'd abide by my no-posting-in-forum ban 100%, no questions asked. But if you're going to not give me something I paid for, then that's taking it a bit far, in my opinion. Last edited by QuadDamage; 08-7-2008 at 10:06 PM.. |
