What Color's My Bum?

I made a club song called City Lights. It's really sick. So far, I haven't had any problems with it. I'm just missing some vocals to go in the background and a bit of mastering and I'm finished the track. Tell me what you think so far.
TURN UP THE BASS! City Lights (Club Mix)[Tell]

Your white noise filtering transition around :40 is really screwing up your mix there, I would consider some amount of compression or something to keep that white noise under control.
Crank your offbeat synths man! Overall your track feels like it is missing something because it is lacking full frequency usage throughout. Even the most banging club tracks try and fill the entire spectrum to give the song a nice, full sound. Nice job though, great potential! |

I like the bassline a lot, and it definitely has the rhythm of dance music.
![]() But like sleepless and the dude on Newgrounds mentioned, it lacks texture, which makes the track sound awkward to the ears. Basically adding effects, arps, pads, and small details in the background help with emptiness. About the white noise around :40, I like the concept of it, but it seems too loud, and the phasering effect distracts you from the more important part of the track. Lowering the volume and taking off the phaser might help it. Sidechaining on the pad seems a bit iffy; you should probably raise the peak volume on the peak controller to let it in a little bit more (almost confident you use FL because of the kick used in the track). Speaking of the kick, it seemed a bit too much, even for dance music. It has a really huge punch and a really powerful feel to it. I personally think a mellow kick would do this track some good; either that or fill in more frequencies to match up to the intensity of the kick, that's just an opinion though. Overall, I see a lot of real potential in this tune, and yes, it does need vocals xD. Good job! Edit: Oh yeah! And I agree with sleepless, the offbeat needs more intensity. :P

I like the bass line and the heavy kick for sure. Good ideas and concepts for the first minute that still need their fix, but after that it went down hill, the only thing kept me interested was the cutoff filtering on the bass, which will never get old [;..but it was too loud and destroyed the hats.

Actually to be honest, I think everything was just fine (Assuming 0:40 was done on purpose). Just needs more intensity thats all. Needs to be a bit longer and add more things into it and its fine. High hat is fine also I believe.
No its not vocals. Why do all newground artist say vocals whenever people say "its missing something." Song is better without vocals. |

Take songs by the Global DJ's as an example. Same style music. (I copied the same style of just about everything from One Night In Bangkok). But they have vocals. Quote:

Will crank that up! Also, missing vocals! I'm trying to get the acapella version of the song called "Old fashioned Love Song" By three dog night Quote:

I really like the feel to it. But, once again, it greatly lacks texture. Also, I personally feel that the beeping towards the end is kind of annoying. I don't feel like it really belongs and fits. The baseline is GREAT! Talk to some other people who have been successful in this genre and see if they have some more suggestions. Overall, nice piece and keep up the good work!
