So I wasn't happy with the results from my DF sim. I mean I loved how the sim turned out. I just didn't like the inconsistent comments. "Too jacky, Loved the jacks, too hard, really good, it was ok, etc." I've just concluded that DF sims will always reap a variety of opinions.
Anyways, any great DT songs that haven't been stepped yet (or any with bad sims of course)? Now that's a challenge: lotsa tiny tempo changes, skittle notes, lotsa layering. *edit* Ah, why can't you edit the title? I forgot the question mark at the end .

I've actually never seen a Dream Theater sim.
Hm. They are an awesome band. Go for Octavarium. P.S. your title is an oxy-moron too - any good unstepped sims? I don't think there are any unstepped stepcharts, sorry. P.P.S. Go for Liquid Tension Experiment instead. Same(ish) musicians, much more awesome music. Easier to step, as well. Last edited by Xandertrax; 07-21-2008 at 11:33 AM.. |

Not exactly.
Also, knowing you wanting to step DF and your comments, you're probably not a grate simfile author (no offense). Play GLoVE's DT and LTE files to get a good idea of what you'll have to do. Constant Motion if you want. |

our going to have a hell of a lot of trouble stepping Dream Theater, unless you use DDREAM Studio and plan to put in a about a months time of effort to make it good.

You can't go off comments. You gotta go play it yourself. Or at least watch the video (link in the description). Sim comments have mislead me a few times.

*edit* Downloading and will play the file. After I'll do so, I'll leave comments in this thread then tell you what I think you should step (if anything) *edit* Congratulations, you have met my expectiations for that file. It sucked big time. 0.25/5- First of all, learn to adjust the gap. It was off by -54ms. Very noticeable. Learn to layer, seriously. Parts feel empty and awkward, as well as boring, as a result. Technical accuracy. Where can I begin? It was not present whatsoever; you had 16ths where there should have been 12ths; you started and ended rhythms incorrectly. Jump placement was pretty lame. Hold usage sucked and was inconsistent, as well. Sometimes you had holds to longer guitar notes, etc. when you shouldn't have and sometimes when it worked you were inconsistent with it throughout the file. Jack usage was also bad and inconsistent. Very very few of the jacks fit with the song (pitch relevance and accuracy). One-handed 24th/32nd trill (dont remember which, probably 32nd) when it easily could have been something else. Congratulations, you created another reason for why people wouldn't enjoy the file. Just plain inconsistency. You often switched around what sounds you were stepping at times- NOT A GOOD THING TO DO. Pitch relevancy errors. Pretty clear. The 0.25 out of 5 I gave you results from a couple of parts with surprisingly accurate pitch relevancy for a couple of seconds as well as having arrows in your file. Poor transitions from one part to another. The song has pretty decent ones, and so should you to follow with it. I could go on and on, but I'll stop here since these are most, if not all (might have forgotten), of the major errors that are in this file. tl;dr - this is worse than the average DF sim congratulations don't even THINK about dream theater for a long, long time.

Hmm... I'd have to say Learning to Live, Under a Glass Moon, Panic Attack, or The Mirror

god I love Under A Glass Moon.
ps GLoVE is the only person who has ever made a good Dream Theatre file. Patashu's Dark Eternal Night was kind of annoying. |
