IMO, those aren't jacks (guitar simulation, unless you're ver punk). It really depends on your definition of PR.

If you want the chart to simulate sheet music and you don't care what the instrument is, whatever, put jacks.

If you want it to simulate 'playing an instrument' (as if it were close at all) then turn the jacks into trills, unless it's vocals or piano or something honestly 'one handed'.

It really just ends up depending on what you're going for. As long as it's all self-consistent, it would be hard to argue that one is really better than the other in objective terms.

The metaphor I usually jump to is painting - simfile and different brushes - layering and PR techniques.

one thing we need to keep in mind is the definition of pitch relevancy

pitch relevancy can be super technical or it can be more expressive. because you only have 4 arrows we know absolute pitch relevancy is difficult to do without feeling weird, so sometimes cutting corners is actually better. it all depends on how you do it

IMO, pitch relevancy shouldn't be thought of in absolute terms in accordance to the four arrows alone - that's too restrictive.

Pitch relevance should be as good as it possibly be, IMO. Simfiles follow the song and, well, "simulate" the song in a way. Just having technical accuracy isn't enough to me, and what I call more to be "musical accuracy" should be present (pitch relevance, layering, fitting patterns, climax theory, etc), as well.

ahaha this is exactly the problem

it should be good as in the way the step artist wants it expressed. of course, it has to make sense, but it doesn't have to be as accurate as possible

unless you meant "good" in a different way

yeah but there's different ways to achieve this "fun" factor. there's a reason why certain things are fun. the hard part is figuring out why and fitting it into a file to cater to the most people possible

It's actually 222.22bpm. My cut of the song is 2:22 long and my file has 2222 arrows.

22 is my favorite number, so this file must be pure win.

Lmao, I didn't feel like including the 222.22, i figured 222 was good enough

I think my file has 2191 notes, so GJ on getting to the 2222 mark, lmao

My file has no hands but more jumpstream. I stepped every note of the melody in the JS. Plus I stepped the 32nds and 16ths to the percussions in the back for the non JS portion, you stepped just the rhythm. So it evened out. I think there's one kinda lame part I want to cut from my file and that would bring it below 2222, but it'd make it a lot more fun.

I gotcha, yours is probably harder than mine then if you stepped the percussion in those parts, I refrained from stepping that stuff cause I didn't want the file to be TOO dumpy.

im meanin like it should be as accurate as possible without sacrificing anything else. if you have a lone melody and only a lone melody that uses only 4 separate pitches, imo you should have it 100% pitch relevant AS LONG AS you don't wind up with annoying patterns

is there something wrong with that
