it's also always been my stance that if a file is great and fun in SM and FFR has permission, a similar file ought to be in FFR because it will still be great and fun, and thus improve the game.

it's mainly because i've seen a ****load of negative feedback where sm songs have been stepped for ffr as well. most people don't like to play the same song again in ffr. personally i don't care since i don't play ffr though so yeah : D

@ Tass or any of the other judges: What is (are) your stance(s) on converting your own SM files to FFR? I know you don't want to compare SM files to FFR files, but I know you don't want FFR files later being released for SM and was wondering if you cared if I went the other way. I have one or two files I just want to take the holds out of, repattern a bit to accommodate that, and send in.

That's pretty much what a lot of people have already done. As long as the sm chart was released already and you change a few things, it can be submitted to ffr

Don't worry I have another super secret SM file that I was planning on converting. Also, I'm pretty sure hi19 didn't send his freedom dive into this batch, so I'm still good as far as I'm concerned for Freedom Dive =O

Basically existing SM files don't affect my judgement that much.

If the file is identical with some SM file it's not a good thing though.

My Chocolate Rain file is *interesting* but I wouldn't mind it getting beaten out by someone else's superior file.

HOWEVER.

If my Freedom Dive file gets rejected and the one that gets in is not ****ING AMAZING I'll be really pissed. I worked a long time on it ^___^

Even if a simfile gets queue'd it can be replaced by a superior file, iirc.

I'm sure there are circumstances though.

knoobish's freedom dive is the best 220 bpm jstream file i've played in the History Of My Stepmania Career
