![]() I joined membership this past weekend at level 24, hehe. The new graphics made me do it. I had another good account, but I wanted to make an account based entirely off the new economy. And I'm glad they made the party room for free players in Falador. I've made 170k from it.
Runescape HD is pushing Java past it's limits. This is substantial. I play HD on fullscreen and have no lagging problems, even on top quality settings. |

![]() I have yet to try it, because my bank likes little boys.
So I can't make myself a member ![]() So alas, I'm stuck in a free world, till my bank decides to leave their Michael Jackson ways. The HD graphics look orgasmic, and I would LOVE to play on them. |

![]() I just played Runescape HD. I have to admit, it is pretty neat. However, it's really nothing more than somewhat of a graphical update; characters look the same, monsters look the same, etc...
Anyways, I've started playing again so I can take care of the Lumbridge/Draynor achievement things. Just for that. And to start doing holiday events again. And I have to admit, the 07' christmas hats look very detailed. YOU CAN SEE THE FLEECE!!! Like I said, RSHD is very nice, and despite it being even more graphics-intensive, my old computer can handle it without a hitch. It's a nice upgrade, but yes, nothing more than a heavy graphics-intensive do-over. Graphics are much nicer though. Java is known of actually handling graphics of that quality; I've played java games with full 3D aspects to them. Or was that Shockwave? I don't remember. -.- |

![]() Well, I quit for like about a year and my friend got me back into it. and a few months later, they added this. Sadly, I cannot play it on linux because I dont have direct rendering... Although, I tried it on m bros computer that has windows xp and i loved it.
And yea, I will have to agree with all the positive quotes. Seriously, do you have any idea how much programming, graphics, sounds, etc that they put into making this game? Maybe if you were a game designer, graphics artist, or programmer; then you would understand... This game is great. I gotta hand it to Jagex for making this game and sticking with it. ^_^ So, dont down something unless you have made a game yourself... (or helped for some part of a game) Last edited by SpoOkyMagician; 07-16-2008 at 01:25 PM.. |

![]() After you play for almost 4 years on RuneScape, unless you're still addicted to it (some how) it gets reaaaally annoying that combat between people is so off balanced. Multiple instances of someone like a level 90 being able to kill a level 120. (It happened to me..)
Aside from crappy PVP, there are many nice skills that are actually enjoyable still. Now that HD is out, I, like others in this thread, have been tempted to go back and play. It was really fun for a time because: Wow, everything looks sooooooo much better. But then for all the people that quit the game in the first place, you remember why you quit. Boring game play. Kudos to Jagex for being so successful. I'm glad to see RS has come a loooooooong way in 4 years, but where does it stop being fun? HD is great if you can support it, but for people who still have crappy computers, it's good old no-face characters. These people get nothing out of the update. And before anyone gets mad that I'm downing RS, know that I still do play every so often and that my ideas are opinionated. :] |

![]() Is someone talking about communist runescape again?
"Hai guys we dont like you selling stuff one bay so we are going to kill two of the best things about it. The games economy and PKing! YAY!!! Go Jagex. @Raping: Yeah, thats EVERY MMO now. With the exception for the 1 or 2 generic action MMO's (Ok, Lunia was pretty fun though.). Last edited by Sir_Thomas; 07-16-2008 at 04:04 PM.. |

![]() The games graphics are now up to par for a streaming MMO however the game play and mechanics are still garbage IMO. I've played the game for quite a few years and when my friends tried to get me to play other MMO's I would always say no. I tried WoW and slowly began to like it more, not because of it's graphics, because of it's perfectly balanced mechanics and a MUCH better combat system. Instead of clicking on somebody and you automatically attack somebody you actually use different spells/abilities. Also just there is actually a goal worth doing in the game which includes a plot and everything rather than just trying to get your skills to 99 to stroke your e-peen.
Overall RS is a pretty good introduction for MMOs but it's not in any way the best or really that great at all. I think the only reason it's popular as like any MMO, it's addicting. Last edited by fido123; 07-16-2008 at 10:51 PM.. |

![]() I first got started playing it when everyone at school was playing it, and it was able to be played at school too since there wasn't any web filters then. I played it till I had all the free quests completed and got really high in the worldwide firemaking ranking (easiest to raise because it's the least popular skill to raise I guess, I'm sure it's not that high in the rankings anymore though) After that, I realised that the game is really boring and not that much fun, especially since none of my friends got on anymore. Actually, all MMOs stop being fun once all your friends leave, but I've never played WoW, but WoW is too expensive for me to want to play it.

I don't like RuneScape at all, anymore. Not because of the graphics (I know how hard it is to work with Java when it comes to making something like RS), but the gameplay is so goddamn dry. RapingDragon's post is right. While many MMORPGs are like that nowadays, many are starting to break the trend in one way or another, which makes them more fun to play. That, or maybe I'm just playing too many new action MMO's and not enough traditional point'n'click MMOs. That and PVP/combat sucks in RS. It's about how much time you pour into the game, rather than any set amount of skill. nig plz Also, RS "Classic" is what I grew up with, and that looks better than all this **** IMHO

It's too easy to get ranked on the hiscores now. They changed it so it's the top 2 million instead of 1 million.
And it still is. 75 Firemaking (gah) is probably at about 80k in the rankings. |
