![]() I just got a vista laptop (onoz) and I set the password for the user account.
After I installed service pack 1, the password no longer worked and now I'm stuck at the stupid login screen. To answer a few potential questions: -I did not make a recovery disk yet, I ha=was going to do that right after installing sp1. -The only things installed are FF and office -There is no way I could have typed the password wrong (and the same wrong) four times already (2 to create the password, two for two logins so far) |

![]() Wow, that sucks. Good thing a password wasn't set on my vista computer when I got sp1.

![]() my laptop came with vista installed, nothing else. The first thing I did was make a user account.
Even better though, the support website doesn't work. |

![]() Isn't there something you can do in safe mode or some set-up menu when your computer boots up?

![]() one user, one password.
I don't really see how installing sp1 over sp1 would do anything to it. It would be like trying to patch a game with version 1.20 to version 1.20. |

![]() Well, I don't see how that would be possible for you to install it again.
It seems like the link I posted above is your only option.

![]() I guess I can restore it to factory settings and get staples to reinstall vista tomorrow.
Everything worked fine until I installed sp1 so that must have been the problem. |

![]() Caps lock/scroll lock/num lock/you entered the password differently than you thought you did - that one has happened to me before.
Or you can just try to log in leaving the password field blank.
