IMO speed is a killer in these tournaments. Once you fall behind it's easy to get discouraged, and then it all starts to wind down.
As fun as speed is, I am almost tempted to believe that completion on metric of close calls is far more intense. I'm going to see how true this is with my upcoming tourney.
