a few questions not in the faq thread..
just wondering if anyone else experiences when practicing a new harder song, they can do most of a really long combo, but one note catches you out repeatedly, and try as you might, you cant seem to get that part right, theres a bit at around note 91-95 on "the cracking sky" (page 3 of dance) that i just find completely impossible :/ yeah i know, practice, practice, etc, but i must have done it like 100 times now, aahhh going crazy :s
also, what is the mainly played version? FFR R1 or FFR R2? and why? which is more competetive? etc i have tried speeding it up to 1.5 and such so that theres bigger gaps between the notes etc |

1/ Yes people will find a new song having an unexpectedly tricky part, and yes practice is the way to do it
2/ R2 is really something that should be considered a project that was started and then backburnered. There are very few songs, no real support, and frankly pretty much nobody ever plays it. "FFR The Game" AKA FFR R1 is the primary (some say only) arrow game on the site. |

Re: a few questions not in the faq thread..
hm ok thanks, the problem with that tricky 2-3 notes is i just dont seem to be making even small progress at it, though i get better at the rest, i even tried screenshotting just as that bit came up so i could study the SS, but found it harder than id expected to do so it just goes by before i comprehend what it was, so i cant even try to work it out, right now im considering moving on to an even harder song, more above my ability level, so i can get better that way, then maybe come back to the combo im having problems with and fare better at it
edit: also wondering can someone suggest some good songs to learn? that will help me improve, in particular im looking for songs where there are lots of notes pretty fast but without having to do bits where you hold down two keys at a time (136.6 on 2nd page of dance is an easy example of the type of song i mean) Last edited by Tehrazer; 05-7-2008 at 11:19 PM.. |

good advice: if you are having trouble with only a small section of a song... it means you have a "mental block" on it. take a break from it for a few days or a week so that you forget your mental block, then go back to it.
and, it sounds like you're looking for a stream song. some decent slower stream songs... song for the nihonjins (purchased), burnout, fett's vette, secret zombie room.... there are lots of songs. i'd suggest just trying a bunch of different songs in the "standard" or "tricky" range and see what you like. when you can do a bit faster stuff, try some of the "difficult" songs...

Re: a few questions not in the faq thread..
I'm definitely siding with Tass on mental block on this one. I went through the song, and everything in and around where you said you had trouble was just straight stream like most of the rest of the song. Moving away from it for a while and coming back fresh should fix that right up.
Also, Secret Zombie Room remains one of my favourite songs in the game. Also, when you do finally want to start getting practice at songs that have a reasonable number of jumps in them, you might try "Killer Dance Floor" in dance. |

another noob question inc: those songs you listed normally show up in the "secret" section, however they just vanished and became "not available" why?

Re: a few questions not in the faq thread..
You've spent your credits, my good man.
Access to secret songs is based on your credit count. There are songs all the way up to 75,000 credits. |

Secret as a genre unlocks when you have the sufficient number of credits on hand for each song.
If you spend credits and go below the minimum needed for a given secret song, it becomes unavailable. |

Re: a few questions not in the faq thread..
ok so, i got the hang of the ones you named, thanks for those, now im wondering what a good song is to improve my ability to hit long combos where i have to hit more than one button at once, for example in the "games we played" alot of those have fast bits like that, i find that i cant keep up, and that it hurts my hands/wrists to the point where they are stiff and it messes me up for the rest of the song :/ i need some that challenge me, but arent so fast that i find them like completely unreadable, for example the ones that come in at around 140 notes into "the games we played 4" in arcade section, i need something a bit slower than that and easier to read to learn on, but not much slower.
