There are definitely some other pianists with exceptional technical abilities, some of them with specific specialties such as fast trilling or glissandi. It is well known that some people in Liszt's time made a career out of showing off musical techniques, unfortunately often at the expense of the musical/lyrical quality. I consider Lang Lang to be a contemporary musical circus artist, although he at least adds humour to mere virtuosity (Volodos, Lugansky, Kissin and Matsuev are amongst the more well-rounded, technically amazing young pianists in my opinion).

P.S. Lang Lang could be ffr material...he sure has a thing for video games:
